As far as a truly new coaster goes, I will be shocked if we don't get a launch coaster of some sort. A launch coaster is really the only thing Carowinds needs that it doesn't already have, (other than a signature wooden coaster). This may be wishful thinking, but I imagine if Thunderbird goes well, we may see more spring up around the country and possibly Carowinds.

While on the topic of future coasters, does anyone know which Cedar Fair park is getting the big new coaster in 2016? I've heard both Michigan's Adventure and Canada's Wonderland.

To your point, if we were to eventually get a launch coaster, where could it fit? Even something small like Maverick would need some significant room; more than the footprint of Vortex which is even smaller. I doubt they would ever put something further out front, in front of Intimidator or Fury 325. And assuming the area to the left of Thunder Road will be for a water park expansion, where else could a launch coaster fit?

^^If a water park expansion is indeed planned for 2016 (which I personally think is very likely), it will go on the other side of Thunder Road. Now, the new water park can be planned to allow for a new coaster to go through it, even all the way up to Carowinds Boulevard. The station could start in the Dinosaurs Alive area (also a newly expanded County Fair goes in that area) and the layout could take is OVER the water park, around to Carowinds Boulevard, and back OVER the water park back to the station.
All it takes is simple pre-planning for future constructions.
We could definitely see a launch coaster in that area. I am very sure of it.

Does anyone happen to know if Carowinds owns the area of land between Carowinds Blvd and the parking lot to the left of Thunder Road?

I was sort of thinking that space could also be utilized.

Here is a map of all the land Carowinds owns (including the blue section).

If they add a launch coaster, should it be a stratacoaster like Dragster or Kingda Ka? If Cedar Fair is still dealing with Intamin. And they could add a drop tower to it like they did with Kingda Ka.

If we were to see a launch coaster in the future, I don't think I would appreciate a Kingda Ka/TTD coaster as much as I would as a coaster like Blue Fire or Helix. I just don't think that 18 seconds of ride time would be worth the wait in my opinion. A Mack or Zierer would be my top choices. :)

Could Cedar Fair somehow incoperate this into a possile Planet Snoopy expansion in 2016?

You know I was thinking of that same thing. It would certainly seem fitting marketing-wise.

I dunno...being that snoopy and the franchise hasn't really changed much since conception, I don't think anything new would come out of this movie that would be screaming "add me to a park". The current planet snoopy's aren't that grand theme wise. My opinion could be slightly biased after going to other highly themed area parks but yeah...I don't see this movie striking up revamping planet snoopy's all over the chain. A new show perhaps but nothing too major...in my opinion.

I agree with you sir. But, maybe "if" and "when" the Dinos leave?

A perfect place for a family (non guardian style) dark ride. A classic "Disney style" (2D sets animatronics...ya know) ride...hey, something like the cat and the hat ride at universal! Ok...im just a sucker for dark rides...

Well everyone should know my wishes by now. A zamperla flat package for days. Powersurge, really wanting to see the Air Race ride at our park, Turbo Force, Giant Discovery (frisbee) , a Super Spin, Also a Himalayas or Matterhorn type ride, top spin, zipper, wave swinger (replace yo-yo), and screamin swings. Or maybe I'll hopefully win the lotto and just drop these rides in the park. Lol. Oh bring back guantlet full force too.
