Depends on how they do it, the waterpark normally closed before dark.

Short Discussion

As an outdoor DIY movie goer myself there are plenty of ways to pull it off. I do it all summer long projecting on the back of my garage while lounging in my pool. You don't need as much shade as you might think but you do need to eliminate as much reflective light as possible.

One such solution is here -> Biggair

I wouldn't be thinking of Drive-in size screens, more along the lines of the atmosphere of summer fun.

I'm really looking forward to these! I hope they set up by the old wave pool, (you know, the one that doesn't usually have waves), it will be really fun for my two boys who are 5 and 2. It will be awesome to swim and watch a movie and since the waterpark closes at 7, we'll be able to watch the movie and still make it home for a reasonable bedtime. I can imagine this is how we'll be spending most Saturday nights over the summer and I can't wait! :D

That is a flash back in time for me. I worked in custom AV over 12 years ago and while I specialized in programming and automation, I did have to know a little about video.

If I recall correctly, for well-lit environments you will want a projector with as many lumens as possible - usually 5,000 or more for outdoor applications. If you couple that with a high gain screen (1.3 or more) , you will increase the brightness of the image reflection allowing a larger display and wider viewing angle.

Then there are the basics, like not having the sun shine directly on the screen. ;)

I'm not confident that I'm 100% correct since it's been so long. Like MarkD said, though, it is quite possible to successfully have movies outside during the day time.

They could use a portable jumbotron, or similar large flat screen, and show the movie during the daytime. Racetracks often use truck mounted jumbotrons, they are visible in daylight.

Kings Island started their movies after nine o clock last year in Tidal Wave Bay, not sure which wavepool.
