Hey all,

I have never been to Dollywood, in all these years, but that is going to change this year. Even before the WWU I was already planning on going.

Is anyone else going and if so when might you go?

I don't want to be all up in your stuff but it would be awesome to at least meet up there and do the park together.

I'll definitely go this year! Probably more than once. Don't have any specific plans to go yet, but I can post when I plan a trip, and maybe we could get a group together.

I really love Dollywood. It's not huge, and it's a completely different feel from Carowinds, but I really enjoy going there. The theming is amazing. I love Wild Eagle and Tennessee Tornado! FireChaser Express is a fun little ride, too. I enjoy Thunderhead (their woodie)...it's very fast. Lots of people like Mystery Mine, but it's not my favorite. I did get to see them remove trains from service when I was there for Smoky Mountain Coasterfest and it was really cool to watch. There's also Blazing Fury...a fun little indoor coaster and a kiddie coaster if you're a credit whore. ;)

It really is a great little park!

Oh, and you can do all the alpine coasters while you're in town!!!

I LOVE Dollywood!
Even though I live closer to Carowinds I consider Dollywood my home park since we go there more often.
If you can only go one time and you wan't to avoid crowds October is the perfect time to go, some of the water rides are still open and most of the people there are there for the Gospel Music.
If you want to see Christmas lights Thursdays and Fridays in December are perfect for that.
If you want to see Dolly either go opening Weekend or during the Parade in May.
And if you want to ride the SlideWinder and River Battle go on a weekday in June.
P.S. Make sure to take in at least one show, Eat Cinnamon Bread, and if the park is crowded their Q-Bot System is affordable! Have Fun

There will be an ACE event there the weekend before Thanksgiving if you enjoy yourself enough to want to go back.

As much as I'd love an RMC that close, I have a feeling their next coaster is going to be quite different.

Clearly a launched coaster for next year I think, but beyond that I have no idea. Curious to find out more. It's insane how rapidly they've been building big rides.

Yep. That rumor went South FAST, lol.

Agreed. Most parks don't get major coasters but every five years or so and Dollywood in 2016 they will have put in FIVE major coasters in 12 years. Seems like they are on a 2-3 year schedule while most everyone else is on a 4-5 year schedule. I don't remember if Pete said it at WWU or not, but he mentioned at some point that Dolly made the promise to spend all that money on stuff and it's up to them to fulfill it. No complaints here, and definitely none for next year.

^no complaints for next year ?????

Does that mean you know what the video they showed at the end of their presentation at WWU meant?

He did say something to the effect of Dolly making big promises and then having to make them happen. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us!!

I was implying that if this new rumor is true, then I won't have any complaints. Heck, if the old rumor was true I would not have complained either, lol.

Honestly, if I hear that Dollywood is adding a new coaster (of any size) I'm happy because I know they will do it correctly. Not that other parks don't; Cedar Fair is doing well with it's additions to Carowinds lately, but you know you're gonna get the whole package (ride/themeing/etc) versus a parking lot coaster.

I agree and would even go as far as every announcement they've made since Thunderhead has excited me. I'm sad that Timburr Tower was a dud, but everything else has been great.

Dollywood seems to know what they are doing so I don't question any decisions that they make. Whatever they do will certainly tie in with their long term vision and be a fun experience.

Dollywood is the only park that we go to where more than one staff member goes out of their way each and every time we visit to make it an enjoyable experience. USF/IOA is a close second. Hersheypark is probably number three.
