It's being built right now per Mike's Twitter post a few days ago so I'd say it's pretty confirmed.

I think the new entrance will actually be better. I mean, the plantation sucked to lose, but when you walk through the new entrance, it will really give off a Carolina theme. So this entrance is better overall. :D

Does anyone know what Mike Fehnel had said about a "small ride" up in Hershey Park the other day?

Those circles around the "planters" look to maybe be forms for a concrete pad around them. At least judging by the cement truck that's now there. That would make sense since pavers usually have a concrete buffer between open area and a structure. (Kind of like the foot-wide concrete between curbs and a road built with pavers.)

I like how they reworked the circles (planters we all assume) around the bridge. Since we can notice the reduced circumference from far away on the web cam, I'm sure that extra 2-3 feet in width gained from the new circles will make a difference in traffic flow across the bridge.

^^^They have now poured concrete around the planters, however I do know places in the park where the pavers go all the to the planters.

Looks like a thick bed of concrete around those things. Then again, if they're doing pavers, they have to allow for a bed of sand between the base and the pavers themselves so maybe thats why it looks so thick. Perspective from a camera 300+ feet in the air can sometimes be an issue. Then again, they could be pouring benches around them (but it doesn't look THAT thick.)

Sand is not required for pavers anymore, there is other options(advertised as cheaper). For example, I used to paver base on my garden railroad for ballast, it is finely crushed gravel. There is also a form product that comes in sheets.

Whatever they're using now is granular. They're spreading it and packing it down now. It looks like what I call a paver base that is traditionally dark and used first on top of dirt, then comes the sand, then pavers.

Could be a composite that the pavers will go right on top of. I've always used sand in the middle then on top of the pavers and vibrated it down so the sand locks the pavers into place and swept off the leftover. Who knows though.

Any guesses as to what the two things on top of the entrance will be -now that they have done a little bit more work on them?

I know that I sound like a broken record, but I really think it's going to be the nc/sc flags. There is one spike in each state, so it seems like it would make sense.
