General Carowinds discussion

I think we need a statue of Mike Fennel planting a tree in front of the park gate. I know he just came recently, but he's like, the best manager ever. :D

What I'd love to see: a Cheetah Hunt type Intamin multi-launch that runs from around Cyclone, out through the woods by the
campgrounds and back.

What I expect to see: I'd almost be willing to put money on something like Thunderbird up at Holiday World to replace
Cyclone.
Cedar Fair loves them some B&M these days and it would give Carowinds a
Winged coaster.

A Launched B&M Wing would be great, but I would prefer to switch it up a little bit. Everything around the chain is all B&M.
It sounds so spoiled, but hey we are 8) We're Carowinds and we got a big bad giga!

NOOOO!!! JUST NOOOO!!!!

1) Carowinds has too many B&Ms now. And they aren't removing any of them -even Vortex- anytime soon.
2) B&M Wing coasters are mediocre at best.
3) Carolina Cyclone was the first coaster to go upside down 4 times. It's also a park icon, as are the corkscrews going over the midway. It would be a travesty to see it ripped out. If they'd put the vest restraints on it people wouldn't complain as much.
4) I agree we need a launched coaster, and I would bet that's the next kind we do get. I just hope it's not a B&M (and I doubt it would be an Intamin). A Mack Launch like Blue Fire or Helix would be the best option, IMO.

But there's no need to assume any ride has to be removed if we get another one (especially not ones that have been in the park for decades and still provide a decent ride that can be improved upon by simply changing the trains).

I didn't say I wanted a B&M Wing. That is just what I would say is the most likely (especially launched).

And as far as cyclone... I think the rumor awhile back was all Cedar Fair Arrow Loopers are on the chopping block. So that's my prediction. 2018-2020 maybe?

That was almost possible before mystery mine. It was an addams family themed coaster similar to mystery mine and Italian job themed coaster on the same survey...it seems Italian job won...

Fury 325 is Carowinds' fourth B&M. Lots of parks have 4, Six Flags Great Adventure has 5.

Also, you say Wing coasters are mediocre at best. While that may be true that traditional Wing coasters are a bit dull, nobody here has ridden Thunderbird. Who knows, it may turn out to be an amazing ride, or it may be just as “meh” as all the other Wing coasters.

If Thunderbird is a success, I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Fair starts building a few. And if this is the case, Carowinds would probably be one of the most, if not, THE most likely candidate to get one.

Im almost tired of this "wing coasters are mediocre" talk. How about this...take your non-mediocre coaster and see how many have been built and compare that to the number of "mediocre" winged coasters that have been built in the last few years. I think if they were THAT boring they wouldn't still be built or have riders. The general public LOVES them and I rather enjoyed the 2 I have been able to have ridden. I get it, its some coasters we may not like but to write them off as if we are then "end all" is just absurd. I think roller skaters are mediocre at best but look how many have been built...see my point?

The "general public" loves everything so I'm not sure that's the greatest argument. You could say that about pretty much anything.

I think the winged coaster will sell more like the standup and floorless than say the inverted. There will be quite a few of them but I don't think it will become one of those things every park wants to have,

I doubt B&M will ever come up with a coaster that will outsell the inverted coaster.

The wing coaster seems pretty popular, I think it will be one of B&M's best selling coasters in a few years. 8 have been made within 4 years, so I think that we will definitely see a lot more of them. Especially of the launched variety.
