I'm tired of the cold. And I have a friend in St. Cloud, so I can have a free place to stay in the Orlando area. So, I'm taking my daughter and heading down in 3 weeks. (She has a long weekend from school, so that helps, too!) I found cheap tickets on Allegiant Air flying out of Concord, so the whole trip (minus cost of park admissions) is costing around $200 for both of us. I love a good bargain!
Anywho…my friend has season passes to Universal / IOA, so she and her kids are hitting up those parks with us that weekend. Vanni (my daughter) and I will be on our own the other days, so here's our plan…
Friday: Fly in, arrive in Sanford around noon. Spend a few hours at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens (half price with our WNCNC membership!) She's basically skipping school this day, so we'll use the zoo as an educational experience. I'll make her a little workbook about the animals they have there and she can turn it in to her teacher when we get back for credit.
Saturday: Another non-park day. We'll head to Orlando Science Center (free with our WNCNC membership!) to do some more educational activities. We LOVE the OSC, and make it a point to have a non-park day there every time we're in Orlando.
Sunday: Universal Studios/IOA. I've not been to the Studios in Florida, so there are a few credits I want to get there, plus I really want to check out Diagon Alley. I don't know that we'll want to spend the whole day at the Studios, tho, because I don't know how much my daughter will enjoy it, but we LOVE IOA, and it's easy to go from park to park now with Hogwarts Express. We'll plan on doing the morning at Studios, and then IOA for the afternoon.
Monday: LegoLand. My daughter has been totally into Legos lately, so she is super excited about this park! I wouldn't be too thrilled about it, except that Arby's trip report from November actually made it look fun. Also, we have a coupon for Vanni to get in free, so that's a big bonus!
Tuesday: Fun Spot America. We'll head to both the Kissimmee location and the Orlando location. Vanni loves go carts, and it'll be more credits for me. I've been to one of them before, but they've both added coasters in recent years, so there'll be new ones to add to my count.
Wednesday: Flying home, but flight doesn't leave till 6PM, so I'll have to figure out something fun to do for a couple of hours in the morning. Maybe head over to Daytona for a couple of hours, so we can see the ocean? Or Gatorland? It's always fun. I don't know.
Anyway…that's my plan. Any feedback? I know some of y'all have been to Orlando recently…Anything that I need to include that I'm missing? (BTW…I have NO desire to do a Disney park, and we're going to Sea World in San Antonio in a couple of months, so that's why it's not on our list. Although I hate being that close to Kraken without riding it. It's one of my faves!!!)
