General Carowinds discussion

How about this:

A launched-RMC hybrid-inverted-wing coaster! Oh yeah.

I was kidding when I started to write it... but it does sound like the best ride I could almost imagine. I will acknowledge the design is a nighmare (if not impossible) and would be ridiculously expensive to build that sort of structure so wide to fit a wide winged train and suspend it from above. Oh well.

The wing trains really don't have much appeal to me, because I don't think they add much to the ride experience. They just kinda look cool from off ride to me. Much like the way I feel about stand-ups (basically a gimmick train arrangement). If the track is ultimately cool and fun, there's no reason a winged train running on that track would not be fun. It's up to the track design whether the ride is good or just mediocre.

I love the inverted coasters though, because that design adds so much to the experience. Launch one of those babies (doesn't need to be winged or a wood/hybrid) and everyone will have a really good time, I promise.

I want lines for rides to be inside air conditioned lobbies. I'd spend a lot more time at the park if there was more AC. During the summer I either show up early and leave by noon or I show up after sundown and leave at closing.

^ I think that the indoor lines idea is a bit far-fetched considering how expensive it would be to build one for every ride, but Carowinds could use a few more of those mist fans and some more shade. I expect that Fury will be very good for shade with all of those huge umbrellas though! :D

^^I'm also sure that there will be mist fans in Fury's queue. But then again I don't know for sure. I only hope so.

A lot of rides have relatively short lines. Fury, Intimidator, Nighthawk, and Afterburn are probably the only ones that need AC.

I'm sure it's been said, but I would be happy with Kaleid...er Scrambler to have a new shade structure. I know when I was there last I was hot as hell standing in that line with the sun beating down on me.

I feel with FURY 325, it should put Carowinds on the map and grow from there. Carowinds needs to add more themed rides in order to get close to the status level of disney and universal. I think they should sign a deal with Cartoon Network, some movies ect that aren't in other parks yet. That's what made carowinds great in the past, I just don't see how a snoopy themed land it's gonna take carowinds to another level. Most kids don't even remember watching snoopy. So my opinion is they need more theming to make this park elite.

I think Snoopy works just fine, especially considering the entire Peanuts gang will be getting a rebooted theatrically-released film this year (in 3D no less!) I think that if it is well-received and makes enough money the franchise will be revitalized and that should definitely put all of the Cedar Fair parks in a very good position. If they ever were going to mix things up, now is definitely not the time to do so.

And for the record, I don't think Carowinds needs to be like Disney -or even is trying to be at this point.
It seems to me like the park is trying to create an atmosphere that merges the trademark thrills of a Cedar Fair park and the southern culture that the park was founded on. And I'm all for Carowinds having a unique identity!

I do would like to see the balloon girls return. Also they can bring back something similar to the smurf icee, maybe a Fury Icee.
