Max's sudden passing in November hit us hard and a lot of folks have expressed interest in ways to pay tribute to his life. Max was really looking forward to Fury 325 and we want to make sure he is there on March 25 in spirit while at the same time giving CC members a chance to give back to the Charlotte community. With the generosity of anyone who is willing to donate, we hope to win a seat in the first ride auction that will then be left empty in Max's memory. With the combined forces of our members, we may even be able to win one of the better seats. Every dollar helps.
Update March 31, 2015: $600 of the final total of $2,175 was needed to win the first seat in the first rider auction. With the agreement of all donors, the remaining $1,575 was split into thirds and donated to the charities below.

Questions
May I donate anonymously?
Yes. On the checkout page click "Name to be displayed with donation:" and enter Anonymous in the box. You can also enter your CC username or another real name if it is different from the PayPal account name. If this field is not filled out we will use the name on the PayPal account to list here as a donor.
How do I know that my donation has been received?
You will receive an email from PayPal confirming that your money was sent. Additionally, within 48 hours of receiving the donation we will add it to this post. You may choose to have your name or screen name listed with your donation, or it may be anonymous. Please check to make sure the amount listed here matches the amount that you sent. If there is a discrepancy send myself or one of the other moderators a private message or use the 'Contact Us' link at the top of this page.
Will Carowinds allow the seat to be left empty?
This idea has the park's approval.
What if we don't win a seat?
If we fail to win a seat in the auction (which would be very sad), all donations will be refunded.
What if there is money left over?
The bidding system is similar to eBay and works in increments so that winning bids will be $10 higher than the next highest bid. This means even if we win a seat there will likely be money remaining. All remaining money will be donated to the Cam Newton Foundation as a separate donation and the receipt will be posted here.
What about Paypal fees?
Each PayPal transaction has a fee of 2.9% of the amount donated plus 30 cents. To make donations "whole", Carowinds Connection will cover the fees.
What happens to the prizes?
Auction winners receive two single day admission tickets, a Fury 325 first rider auction t-shirt, and a first rider auction hat. Winners in the front row of each train receive a Cam Newton autographed football. Any prizes received from our seat will be randomly awarded to our donors. Each $1 donated is 1 entry into the drawing for the prizes, but no one will be allowed to win more than one prize.
When will our bid be placed?
To give us the best chance of winning a seat, one of the administrators will place our bid as close to the final deadline as possible.
Is this tax deductible?
Yes. All money we receive will be used in the first ride auction, proceeds of which go to the Cam Newton Foundation, a certified 501(c)(3) charity.
