If I remember correctly, a few years ago, they threatened to move the Pavilion. One of the conditions that it stayed was that they cleaned up that whole area. I don't think that the area is in that bad of shape. Some of the shops in that area could be closed down and not be missed. Some of the older hotels could be fixed up. Especially that area to the left of the Hurricane. I mean does Myrtle Beach really need that many more motels?
I think there's a lot more to this proposal than they're letting on. I don't see all that going into the Pavilion area (parking deck area too.) They've already got a lot of that stuff in the MB area that's in the proposal. There's suppose to be an amphitheatre at the Hard Rock Park (which I think is all talk now.) Lord knows that they don't need anymore shops down there.
If they're serious about this proposal, find some land away from there and go for it. As for their contention about keeping that area active year round, MB isn't that busy during the winter.
