I'm still searching for the source of this info. It could be true and it wouldn't surprise me, but being the skeptic I am, I need to hear it from a legitimate source before I believe it.

I don't think that was the first time they visited Dollywood this year, either. Hopefully they noticed some of the operations up there.

Hopefully they would notice alot about the way Dollywood is run. ;)

Speaking of "officials from ______ company" sightings, I also had heard that some Paramount managers were at USF for Revenge of the Mummy as well. Screamscape, of course!

I know of one park official that told me he was suppose to be going over there. Don't know if he's actually been or not. The word might have been "research."

Yes, there is a lot to learn from a DW operation standpoint. The ride crews are incredible, the employees have a sincere quality that even BGW can't match. It would be hard for any visiting park official to NOT notice these things. The majority of DW employees appear to age 50+. They all seem to be very happy with their jobs and they project a sincerity to the guests unmatched by most themers including Carowinds. I would almost go as far as calling DW a model park.

bgwfreak starts to drool...

Just the thought of a Thunderhead clone at Carowinds makes me salavate. lol

Thunderhead is an incredible coaster, but I doubt they will put one in next year if any time soon.

But I can dream on. I'd rather have a 220ft hyper, but I'd take a Thunderhead "clone" if that wasn't possible.

The Paramount official could be checking it out for other parks as well. It's like Pepsi, you know they drink Cokes to see what they are like. They might have just been checking out the competition.

Thunderhead has been getting a ton of buzz this year, and deservadley so.

Yep, Thunderhead sure has, and when I road it back in June, it became my fav wooden coaster. Word of adivce, ride Thunderhead earlier in the morning because to me it goes faster and it smoother, but I like roughness, but, when your backs a little sore, ride in the morning. Another word of adivce is to ride Blazing Fury in the back with someone who is bigger than you (like my dad) because then you can come out of the seat on the bumps. The back is also faster and funner! Tennessee Torndo, haven't riden in back or all the way at the front, but, to be the farther back you are the more fun it is, but, for great views, ride at the front. It just depends on where you can get a seat. Also, hit the big rides (besides Thudnerhead) in the morning (such as Blazing Fury and Tennesse Torndao) becasue its wlak on, and stay on as long as you want as long as nobodys in your lane. Ok, back on topic! Carowinds does need to learn how to have an atmosphere like DW and to learn how to treat people with respect and niceness.

^^ Well actually in my opinion Carowinds has made great strides this year.

The staff are acting a lot better than in past years, plus give them a break. If it was 92 degrees and you had to stand in the sun all day, would you be all chipper all the time??? ;)

Also, the park has been getting a lot of overhauls lately, with Borg of course, then the front of the park was remodled about 2 years ago as well.

I can see they probably will remodel County Fair soon too, it's in the most need of updating IMO.

Is Carowinds BGW, no. But is it Six Flags America. Thank goodness no! We have rides that work, and a park that has paths that go somewhere. he he

It gets that hot at Dollywood too... jk :)

I really think the park's employees have improved over the last few years since the mid 90s. They are much more friendly than they have been.

A couple of years ago, I was in Pigeon Forge and it was 90 degrees and above, but, I'm sure that it was cooler at DW, except for the Country Fair because that place is real sunny and has no shade. In the other parts of the park, it feels much cooler because of all of the trees.

I think the Tube Shoot will be rethemed and overhauled, so it is be more exciting for kids. Didn't it have rapids in it at one time?
