General Carowinds discussion

Hi. I just got back from a family vacation to Chicago (family there) and was able to visit Six Flags Great America. Overall I thought that the Rides, Food, and Themeing were better than carowinds, although the employees were nasty!!! Here's how the coasters add up.

Check <a href='http://www.rcdb.com/quicksearch.htm?quicksearch=Six+Flags+Great+America' target='_blank'>this</a> out for pictures and discriptions

Superman: Ultimate Flight was awesome. The seats were VERY comfortable but not that much more than Borg's. I thought that the pretzel was better than anything on the borg ***, but the rest of the ride was boreing. Overall I think Borg gives a better ride. I also think that when the seats go up in the station to the flying position, it kinda "Gives away" or "Spoiles" the feeling of flight. I like it on borg how you are on your back almost like any other coaster and then 115 feet up in the air it flips you over and you feel what "flying" is like when you are whizzing down the first drop at 55 mph. I prefer borg over superman. call me crazy.

If you think Vortex is rough, you need to give Iron wolf a spin. This was the first B&M coaster and you would think that they hadn't invented spring loaded wheels yet. If it were smoother, Iron Wolf would probably be as good as the scorcher.

Won't go into much detail about Batman cause there are so many, but this was the first B&M invert and its suprisingly smooth for its age. I find that batman clones are very intense, but are lacking in the speed department and provide a relatively short ride. TG is better.

American Eagle is my favorite wooden racer ever!!! This intamin woodie is very long and smooth. The helix at the turnaround is soooo much fun. It was really great how they were actually racing the trains.

V2 was broken, but was testing throughout the day. looked fun though.

Viper, along with the Georgia Cyclone is a clone of the Coney Island Cyclone. Great ride because it was so smooth. SFGA sure knows how to maintain woodies.

Wizzer is the best family coaster ever and one of the few schwartzkoph jumbo jets left. Great ride.

One to my new favorite coaster ever!!! This is quite an honor considering I have ridden over a hundred. The new winner is RAGING BULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raging Bull is a B&M hyper and was the first. Raging Bull provides a long ride packed full of air time in the back few rows. It is incredibly smooth and gives some good G's in places. The fourth hill is kinda like an inclined curve like MF's 2nd hill, except the openness of B&M hypers makes you feel like your going to fall out. The best seat on the ride is Back row Left side. Take all this and add it with excellent ride capacity and you have a winner. Oh, and might I add that the B&M hyper restraints are some of the most comfortable in the world. This is way better than apollo's charriot.

There was a discussion about getting a B&M hyper a while ago, and I say a ride like raging but would be AWESOME!!!

Your comments regarding Superman are pretty much identical to my thoughts.

Ok, so you're not the only one that likes Vekoma's flyers more than B&M's. If I had to choose.....I'm undecided. I like B&M's smoothness and how most of the ride is in flying position including the lifthill. On the other hand, I think that the Borg has the better layout and I like how the constant rollovers are disorienting. It's hard to rank one above the other. Same goes for Batman versus Top Gun. I like the disorientation and more tangled track of Batman, but I love Top Gun for it's speed.

About Carowinds getting a hyper, of course I would love to see one there. We know a B&M would be fast, smooth, and comfortable like what so many people have said. It seems that B&M's are the Cadillacs of rollercoasters. I hear so many people comment about how smooth Top Gun is and how they still think it's better than the Borg. Now if we were to get an Intamin, then it would be nice to see a different track style running somewhere through the park.

Look at the size of Raging Bull, it's not as long as other Hypers but is compact. Carowinds needs something like that.

hey anomaly i wouldnt say cadillac of roller coasters probably more Mercedes Benz compared to some rides lol. But back to your comparison which would you honestly choose are the ride operators totally different from carowinds and stuff like that. Also what if carowinds could get something like V2 that way we can have a smaller coaster before we get a big coaster

I say Arrow was the cadilac. B&M overcharged for there rides.

Never rode Rajin Cajun, there was an hour wait and they didnt offer speed passes for it.

Also, I wasn't brave enough to ride Demon.

As I posted in the other thread, Raging Bull is awesome, and I am glad you got to enjoy such a great ride - one of B&M's greatest creations. As for B&M being the "Cadillac" or "Mercedes" of coasters, how bout "BMW"? After all, that's why enthusiasts call them beemers.

I have to say, Demon is rather intense on the G's. On the loops you nearly black out, it's great. Next time you are up there ride it. V2 is also a great ride, practically anything launched is. Viper is in the top 3 wooden coasters on my list, up there with the Beast (at night with no brakes!), and Thunderhead.

I pretty much agree with you Borg vs S:UF as well. Although I rode the Georgia Clone ;)

I can't believe B&M built such a boring layout. It's fun, but quite boring in comparission to the flying dutman layout.

Who knew? Vekoma would beat B&M in something ;) he he he

Also, I still haven't ridden Raging Bull yet, but would love to. I absolutley love Apollo's Chariot, and can't even conceive of a B&M hyper better than it.

Hmmmmm... Road Trip!

Actually I was talking to a friend about flying to Chicago this summer to see the Cubs and to go to that park. But it's not going to happen for a year or two more.
