Man I love the amusement park industry!

It seems like I'm always learning something new everyday. So I'll get to the point..

Know any interesting facts about coasters or parks? Or maybe a plan a park had that fell apart?

For example, I think I read somewhere that Drachen Fire up at Busch Gardens was originally going to be made by B&M.

Jonathan wrote:The best/worst is the gigantic Alton Towers woodie through the valley that John Wardley designed that was scuttled by the local planning board then later brought back to the table and scrapped in favor of The Smiler.

I heard over on TowerStreet that a RMC launched woodie is coming in 2017. Goes 45ish MPH.

Canada's Wonderland originally had a "Frontier Canada" section planned for the White Water Canyon/Splash Works (water park) area of the park. Among other things, it was going to have a train ride and a lumberjack show! They even advertised it as "coming soon" on the promotional material prior to the park's opening, but for whatever reason it got shelved. The Mighty Canadian Minebuster (wooden out-and-back coaster) was even built as the centrepiece for the planned area, but it's sadly the only thing ever built toward this theme. I'm still hoping they can use that idea for the back pathway since there's nothing really on it but trees (I love trees and there would still be a forest back there if they did decide to do it) right now and they just took SkyRider out of this area.

SFNE was given the option of either Iron Horsing Cyclone for 2012, but they decided they wanted Cyclone as is and got Goliath instead. However, in 2012, they put some topper track on it since Six Flags forced them to. Then, in the 2013 off-season, the park decided to do a permanent fix on the Cyclone issue, so they asked RMC to do an Iron Horse treatment and now we have Wicked Cyclone!

I was just looking through some of my pictures and found the old Paramount Ride Survey along with descriptions and concept art. Seems that I did a screen shot on all of it, for archives you know. Some of it was pretty wild. I should post some of it sometime.

In one of their newsletters that followed they actually named me for one of my suggestions at the time. Geesh, age just keeps creeping along.

I thought it was interesting that back when Cedar Fair acquired the Paramount Parks, they looked into bringing the Nickelodeon brand to all of their parks instead of retheming the kids areas to the Peanuts. I'm glad we got Charlie Brown instead (though I do miss Nick Central since I grew up in that area of the park).
