Hey Jonathan, I have an idea that I'd like to do.
I will write (in color) something in tribute to Max to be placed on my model and I will bring it to the park on media day and have all of us sign it. Or even better. We can all write our own little "letters" to Max, bring them to the park, have them laminated and attached to the side of the base of the model. I don't know, I'm just throwing out other ideas.
What do you think? Anything you'd like to add?

Maybe a plaque that could be displayed in the park that explained that Max helped organize events for coaster fans, or a tree and plaque near fury or max's favorite ride, or even in the station of said ride, or if a tree would be appropriate, a tree with plaque could be arranged with the park. I feel that $2000 will likely exceed the cost of a front seat ride, so i'd love to see something in the park that was in tribute to Max's memory that could be a permanent fixture. Plaque, tree, bench, out of the way info sign/poster, something that would be part of the park for years to come that would be visible to the public would be awesome. I know several rides in other parks have 'historic landmark' type plaques, so i don't see how a 'in loving memory' plaque wouldn't be able to be done.

I don't want to take the attention away from Max, but on the previous page CoasterAddict said that they were bidding on 5 different seats. Why would one person need so many seats in the auction?

You get two tickets to carowinds, the cost of the two tickets is less than the price of the current high bids on some of the seats.

Perhaps that person is part of a family/party of 5? Makes sense from an organizational stand point? Perhaps, like rollernut said, its a radio station bidding to give away as a prize   ! But yeah, if I wanted my family to go I would do the bidding, wouldn't have 4 other people watching when I can do the job myself.

Many from Team Coaster Addict have wanted to go to the media day event, and one did not get a chance to enjoy Carowinds yet (they went up to KD but did not get to stop by Carowinds). So, instead of having each person from our group bid, we figured it would be best to bid under one login. It is just easier to track that way. Plus, most of our team members love to give back. For example, each year, most of the team does at least one coaster marathon for charity here in Atlanta and often looks for other great ways to give back. While I do the bulk of the writing for the CoasterAddict.com site, our [active] team is about 10 strong (not counting some people who contribute from time to time. A good number of us have Carowinds Gold or CF Platinum passes, but a few do not. All in all, we just love roller coasters and love giving back!

Our budget is not that big, and many of our team members have other financial obligations, so most of our team's bids have been on lower-priced seats. My (Dwayne) thinking is that bidding on the lower-priced seats will also do a few things. First, most of these seats have not had many bidding action on them. So, that should help drive up the money that is raised for the great cause - even if CA team members do not win seats.

As mentioned before, if something unfortunate happens wherein Max does not get the front row seat (which I am confident he will based on the pure mathematics of it all), I'll be happy to give up my seat further back on the train.

Watch the online bidding site closer to end. Bidding will increase. Its just like eBay and many people will wait until the last five minutes.
I'm so excited to see how much has been raised in Max's honor. What a tribute.

Definitely! I am sure that the bids will increase as we get near the end, but I am also confident that few people will be able to attempt to outbid Max's seat! I know that one gentleman currently has a lock on a number of seats, but I cannot imagine that he will pony up 2000 for each seat.

Also, on a different note, what is the game plan for the autographed Cam Newton jersey? I'd assume that Max will get a front row seat; are the plans to send his family the jersey? Again, this is not as important per se, but I just thought it might be a good idea to be proactive in the thinking and whatnot!

Jonathan wrote:What happens to the prizes?
Auction winners receive two single day admission tickets, a Fury 325 first rider auction t-shirt, and a first rider auction hat. Winners in the front row of each train receive a Cam Newton autographed football. Any prizes received from our seat will be randomly awarded to our donors. Each $1 donated is 1 entry into the drawing for the prizes, but no one will be allowed to win more than one prize.
