Hard to believe, but we are over half way through the 2004 operating season!

How do you think the park is doing on attendance?

Seems like they are up this year, but maybe not. Anyone heard any attendance figures so far?

I haven't heard any actual numbers but I was told attendance was down as of June 30. I think it had to do with all the rainy days we had in that month. But, there is still time for the park to recoup.

As I stated in a thread back in March or April, it would be nice to see the park break 2 million for the first time, but I just don't think this is the year. Hopefully, I will be proved wrong though.

Six Flags has had weak attendance this year according to <a href='http://www.thestreet.com/markets/marketfeatures/10171558.html' target='_blank'>this</a> article.

By the way, how has Paramounts been doing money wise. All I hear now is that Six Flags is doing terrible. I never hear anything about Paramount Parks. Then again, they must be doing good since they have the money to build a new park in Japan.

Build a park in Japan? Are you sure you are not thinking of Disney or Universal?

I think he is talking about universal. Well it is ok on attendence would be better if it wasen't for the rain.

Here is a copy of the original release about the Japanese Paramount Park:
---------------------
Hisayama, Japan / 10/18/03
Paramount Parks has announced that they intend to debut a new theme park in Asia with a price tag of 120 billion yen, which translates to roughly 1,097,092,700 US dollars.

The park, set to open near Fukuoka, Japan in 2008 in the city of Hisayama, will encompass 124 acres of land, or 50 hectares, and construction is expected to take three years. After opening, Paramount expects its new theme park to attract five million visitors.

Paramount is now in the design process of the park and seeking investors in its project.
---------------------

I haven't heard anything more on this. Anyone else?

Well I've done my part to help on the attendance figures. he he

I've probably been to the park about 15 times this year, maybe more. lol

I wonder how they figure they'll get 5MM visitors a year, when none of their parks gets that number in the States?

I wish them well though. I just don't want them to get in the same boat as Six Flags did with their massive debt.

^Probablly cause Japan is more populated??

Yep. thats probaly why they'll get 5 million visitors. Thats gonna be one crowded theme park. Glad we don't get that many people!!! Could you imagine the lines, especially for a low capacity ride. Whoa. You would spend a whole day waiting in line for one ride :o

I think Paramount Parks is doing good this year. Every Paramount Park I've been to this year seemed to have a good crowd. If attendance was bad.. then it could be because of people being scared about terrorism or paying for higher gas prices or crap like that. But they way things have been going.. I don't think people really care that much & go anyway.
When PKI has Bring A Friend Free Day you can't move because the park is so dang crowded! Every line is over 1hr or more. It's also really crowded on the weekends to. So I think Paramount Parks has had fairly good attendance.

I've only been 3 times, that is the most I've been for the past 3 years. I certantly am not helping with attendance. My family never wants to go, besides, we've already made the season passes worthwhile. I might talk everybody into going friday night, but we'll see...

On CoasterBuzz there is an article that states Paramount Parks attendance figures are up this year 16%. All though it doesn't state what each individual parks numbers are, I would think that PC has faired pretty well. Even with the rainy days in June, I think May and July have done pretty well.

I'm pretty sure that's just for this quarter. Amusement Park attendance was down as a whole in the spring...
