Yea I agree to just have the slides behind the building and then Leaving the other part for maybe a new roller coaster next to afterburn and built a new entrance so both have at guardian feel to them!

Made a new edit. Made it look better. I put a newest entrance, a launch wing coaster, themed by a nc idol, Michael Jordan called it AIRNESS. Bringing the same concept of intimidator , basing a coaster of one of the greats, with Carolina blue colors. Made the new slides behind the building. Still some space for a flume, flats and or restaurant/facilities.

^ That's all we can do right!
FamousAmos wrote:Well, yes, I have to agree with you on that one. I was just saying that that's how much space is potentially available for future use. Not including the land adjacent to Carowinds Boulevard. I'd like to see them have employee housing like Cedar Point or King's Dominion one day. Mike said that that's something that could possibly be done in the "near" future. Only time will tell. But yeah, the expansion really shouldn't go beyond that maintenance building (for now anyway). I could see perhaps a parking lot upgrade in that area, similar to what's coming to the campground parking lot next year, with more trees/planters in the parking lot. I guess we'll find out soon right?

Employee housing? Does Carowinds need that? Doesn't most of their employment comes from locals? The only reason I see the need for that is if they are gonna do some college program or some international work exchange program. I don't know the locals will feel about that being the unemployment rate in the south isn't all that low and would look at that as taking away their potential jobs.

Does Carowinds own that strip of land between the Thunder Road parking lot and Carowinds Blvd?

I was thinking the same thing. Carowinds is in a large enough metro area to fill employment. I understand why places like Cedar Point and Kings Dominion have them (Richmond being a nice size city, but it's still a good distance away from it).

if carowinds is indeed adding a water park expansion in 2016, I hope they get an earlier start. If its to be on the other side of thunder road, theres really not much stopping them from getting an early start on it.

An earlier start as opposed to what? the water park doesn't open until may so im not sure I and many reading understand what you mean by "earlier start"...

what does the water park opening in may have to do with anything? It be nice not having construction equipment etc around when the park opens.

Emerald Pointe didn't start their new slides until Feburary or March. We had construction equipment all season last year, it helped make it an exciting season!

The fact that the waterpark opens in may has everything to do with everything. There is no rush to have to ready by opening day. You say it would be nice to not have construction equipment around when the park opens...well, imagine if they had to wait until the park closed to start Fury 325 and the new entrance. Now last year it seemed they got a late start on things since the slides open after the water park but yeah...having construction equipment isn't really that big of a deal. Was it a big deal when it was in the park for virtually the entire season last year? Besides, it would be in an area of the park that we wont have access to anyway so im a little confused on what you mean by an earlier start...

How much longer is the Dinosaurs Alive expected to be around? Maybe that could be the potential location of a new future flat ride.

Don't you mean, "How much longer until Dinosaurs Alive goes...extinct?"

I think that area will go toward future expansion of Planet Snoopy. There are plenty of other areas in the park where some thrilling flat rides would fit better, imo.

My idea for the 2016 water park expansion:
retheming of the water park, a few new slides, and maybe another slide complex geared towards families (think a bunch of down under thunders).
