General Carowinds discussion

Hi, I have been following this site since the announcement of Fury 325. This board does a great job with everthing and I am excited to make my first post. A big question I have is with all the open space, I am hoping we will be able to have lunch/picknics out there. I never have really done it since there was no green space outside the park and parking was so far away, but I feel now with all this space inbetween the two paths and the 900 new parking spots people can enjoy themselves and watch Fury while having a bite. What do you guys think and will the park allow this?

Thanks!

Picnicking is allowed I believe; our family and I did so back in 2011 or something, in the grass next to the season pass lot. Welcome, BTW!

The dirt between the plaza and the interstate is gone. The dirt between the plaza and the parking lot looks like it got sprayed with grass seed.

Love seeing the green coming out. I don't know whether it's sod or seed or green colored stuff to hold the seed in place but it looks good from the top of the tower.

I little pond would be nice in the middle of the green there. Looks like they are really defining the old pathway, I wonder what for...future trams maybe or a last minute third walkway??

Looks like the old pathway was just paved, so apparently it will be used for something. Not really understanding why it randomly ends in the grass though...

On the plans, that road just ends. It is not labeled as a maintenance road, or guest path, or anything. Just "existing asphalt road" There will be a gate at the end where it meets the new parking lot though.

maybe there will be a dumpster there and the pave road is for the truck to pick up the dumpster etc.

looks like they are doing something to the back of the entrance building.
maybe glass-enclosed posters like Cedar Point? or possibly preparing for a screen?
I'd be more inclined to think the former.

I think they are just making sure every part of that structure is white

also it appears they installed safety posts just before the entry plaza. guess they dont want anyone driving their car over the bridge into the plaza. I would think those would be before the bridge.

They're working on the front side of the inner circle (what appears to be the Carowinds sign area). Not sure if they're filling it with dirt or what. Maybe tile or paint for a fountain? Whatever it is, it's dark. Probably just going to be a flower garden in front of the sign.

On the plans they are calling it a Fire Access Lane.
