From Mike's own mouth: They haven't even confirmed next year's plans. I'm sure they have an idea of what they're doing, but apparently contracts have not been signed. So...rumors are just exactly that.

Well I guess the question I have is are they looking to build a water themed ride or just a water park expansion? And the fate of Thunder Road is also lingering out there. But I guess we have until August to wonder about this, so as for now just appreciate and enjoy Fury.

I thought they said no to painting over winter.

A couple months back there was a picture of Thunder Road posted on Facebook that got a ton of feedback talking about how much better it would look repainted and with the "Grit your teeth..." signs back on the lift hill. Maybe they listened?! :D

Maybe making a "Big Splash" means a splash of paint? or it could be just one of their playful tangents they send us on.

Oh, there is no playing around. The park will in deed make a splash but remember...more than a waterside can make a splash

They do more than listen! Everyone at the park is passionate about their jobs. From mike who runs the pace to larissa who keeps the public related to eunice who makes sure your phone is out of sight on fury 325  . Its assuring to know carowinds has a stellar staff backing it. I, as well as almost every "seasoned" coaster rider lol...couldn't wrap our collective mind around how paint ruins a wooden coaster when they have been painted for years. I'm figuring with the new paint on woodstock express this year we can see some paint on thunder road next year, before they take it down...

I guess a paint job would make sense. If they're going to invest a ton of money on expanding the waterpark in that corner of the park, they may as well make the coaster right there nice and snazzy looking at the same time.

So were all those marking in the parking lot next to Thunder Road and under parts of Thunder Road there last season? They seem to be marking utilities....

Of course, no pictures as they are only visible from the ride.

Well, that part of the parking lot is fenced off now. I don't know how long it's been like that though. From my recollection, it wasn't fenced off last season. right? or no?
