General Carowinds discussion

Did anyone catch that typo about the test seat? I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was something like, You must be able to pull the shoulder harness all the way down to ride......

Since I hear Carowinds is open on Wednesday this week, I may wait and go then instead of today. It is still a bit chilly outside and I am hoping it will be less crowded on Wednesday. I am off on Wednesday this week and I think that may be a better choice.

Once the weather warms up it should be open. For some technical reason, I believe the outside temperature has to be over 45 degrees.

LocalYokel wrote:Yesterday Jonathan reported that they can't run Fury until the temp gets over 40°. It is 39° now.

Is the 40 degrees temperature required for all of the coasters or just certain ones? Same for Intimidator?

Jonathan wrote:Not sure but Intimidator didn't open until well after Fury yesterday so I suspect it's the case for the B&Ms. I believe all of the non-B&M rides opened with the park.

I just got to the park and Fury is about to open. No sign of Intimidator though.

So, How many times have you ridden this thing??? And you are waiting in those long lines??
Love it.

I've ridden 11 times so far and yes I have waited in the lines yesterday and friday!!! VIP line jumping access was not included in the Thrillcaster contest lol. But I'm great with it. More than happy to wait for fury. God what a blast !!!

I was on Row 1 Seat 1 when that happened. It dispatched and stopped. They rolled it back in. They off loaded us and told us to go wait on exit platform. I had a 3 hour drive home, so I left. However, I was on the first train of the day row 7 seat 1. Awesome airtime. I got a First Rider t shirt!

On another note, I've always wondered how much these "Fast Pass" type systems cost in terms of time to the regular peasants who don't shell out the big bucks. Since the Fast Pass line was closed for the season pass night Friday, I had a good control to find out. On Friday night with no Fast Pass operating it was 50 minutes from the entrance to the permanent queue. On Saturday it was 70 minutes with the Fast Pass line open. So, a 40% increase for the peasants.

While I'm grinding axes, the stapling on Fury was out of control. The point of the lap bar is to secure the rider, not make them uncomfortable or even cause physical injury. I had one ride that wasn't even that fun because I was pinned so tightly to my seat.

Thankfully I did not get stapled, that sucks. And there's no reason for it in Fury. One girl tried, but my resilient belly said "No, Wench!"

As for the temps, 40* is for Beemers, and I know from going to Dollywood for several years in December that other coasters do have a similar limit. I wanna say they won't open thunderhead in temps below 35*. I forgot what Mystery Mine was but it was higher.
