General Carowinds discussion

It's no secret the park is planning on making a big splash next year so lets have some fun! Say, if you were in charge of the 2016 BIG splash, would would you do? What rides/attractions would you add? What's your reasoning for it? How would you do it? Where would you put it? Lets have some fun and **hopefully** some of our ideas may come into fruition...  !

I would love to see something like Maelstrom at EPCOT :):)
Or Journey to Atlantis at SeaWorld
Or a "splash" of paint to Thunder Road. ;)

A ride like River Battle at Dollywood, one of those Mack spinning water rides like Six Flags brought and a new Log Flume all replacing Dinos and themed to Snoopy.

A water slide that connects the new area to the existing waterpark.

Oh and flooded walkways! biggest splash at Carowinds ever! Note: This post is satire in nature!

For the water park, I'd like to see it rethemed to the Carolinas. The name 'Carolina Cove' gives the park originality. I'd like to see the world's tallest speed slide. The record would be taken from Kentucky Kingdom. I'd like to see a mat racer that passes over Thunder Road similar to those slides at CW that pass over Minebuster. Now for the dry side. I see a Starbucks coming in the future. The best spot to put it would be in the spot of Cinnabon/Edy's. Makes sense to put it by the front gate where people start off their day. Also, like others have mentioned, I'd love to see Wings turned into a full service restaurant. They could showcase some of the new carolina food in it.

I also would like a raft battle, extend the lazy river to pass underneathe thunder road, and it would be sick to upgrade the wave pool to something similar to typhoon lagoon.

I like the flooded walkways idea. I could walk barefoot through boomerang bay without my feet blistering and there would be no need for trees

A killer whale show like at Shamu Stadium at Sea World where the first five rows are a splash zone! :)

But seriously, as much as I hate river battles, I know they're popular and would be a big draw. They could theme it with Peanuts and put it in Planet Snoopy if there's any room over there? I know there will be when the Dino's are extinct.

That and the water park expansion should be good. :)

I like the "Carolina Cove" name tarheel suggested. I'm definitely in the camp of hoping it doesn't get the Soak City branding.

I don't care that much for body slides so for me personally to get that interested in a water park expansion I think a water coaster like the two at Holiday World would need to be involved. Those are so fun.

RollerBee wrote:^There is probably a reason that no park has down this but I do it is a cool idea.

Ummm...roller, they have and have been for a while...

For me, I have several ideas for making a BIG splash...

I have posted this before but these water coasters are great!

Here is an excerpt about the ride...
The HydroMAGNETIC PIPEline two-person LIM water coaster has the quickest turns, fastest drops and most compact footprint of the ProSlide water coaster family. The small footprint and attractive price make it ideal for all waterparks, including indoors. It’s also available in a duelling format, which doubles the impact and capacity

I have been on this one...

I really enjoyed it! It also has a tight, compact layout as shown below...

Another Idea, sticking to the water park, is some family raft slides. The park only has one and I feel it would flourish more with just 2 more like this tower...
Image
It has a nice thrilling triple down slide and a nice semi enclosed traditional slide. Perfect for families!

Since i'm talking about the water park...How about a brand new water play structure! The one at the park currently is, well lets face it...its pretty dated and with water play structures like this...
Image
Carowinds version can definitely be gutted and replaced!

Now, we all know it's more than one way to make a BIG splash so how about Mack water coasters?

I could see this going where dino alive is and themed to something snoopy. Everything in that area doesn't have to be "kiddie" sized, we all see that with the flyers and the sea storm.

Speaking of Mack rides...They also offer several other "splash" rides like...
Image
The twist n' splash! I say put this in the area near carolina cobra and give it a blackbeards revenge theme and bam! Homage to a long gone attraction and something new for that area of the park! I think the perfect spot would be where the golf course is currently.

My last idea...for now...would be a splash battle in camp snoopy! It's not camp snoopy yet but that will be a good reason to retheme it! I love the wilderness of dollywoods version...
Image

Now for this one, I would say some rides would have to be moved around to make this one go by the pond area leading into the current planet snoopy.

That's all I have for now. Continue sharing your "splash" ideas!

I do think the park needs a new play structure. The current one is a bit small. I'd like to see one along the lines of the one at Great Wolf Lodge.

Coasterbruh, what park is that?

The Log Flume alligator is one of my favorite part of Boomerang Bay...
When I said "flooded walkways", I mean like 3" depth. My whole concept is to keep me from burning my tenderfeet, which is why I love the gator.
