Ok so I'm planning on going to Dollywood later this week and haven't been in roughly 10 years so I wanted to ask those who have been recently a few questions. What is the best direction to thru the park ( clockwise/ counter)? What rides are best to hit first/early? We plan on staying the full day ( looking at the weather it's supposed to be in the 70's so hopefully no worries there). And is there any hidden gems of the park that we shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance for any pointers or comments.

Any time I've been to the park this early in the year it hasn't been that busy, so you may get lucky there. Honestly, I can't really say in this case which way to start. If you get there at opening and it's not cold, you can go either way. And if it does look like it's getting busy, Qbots are ONLY $15.

Get some cinnamon bread, visit the dollywood museum, and DO NOT skip Slidewinder.

We were there Thursday and the park was completely dead, so you probably won't have much of an issue riding everything. Mystery Mine was down so hopefully it will be back and running.

When you enter the park go left toward Thunderhead to start the day and work your way around that way. Make sure you ride the train.

You can also take one last look at the Jukebox Junction area in its current iteration and see all those mysterious little orange flags on trees going all the way up the mountain beside it.

Longest line of the day should be the trams.

Get the cinnamon bread only if you have half a dozen people to split it with, unless you can stomach a pound of bread and sugar and still walk. Especially if you've already eaten at Aunt Granny’s.

Hidden gems - Blazing Fury(3.25) as many times as you can stand while keeping a straight face.

And “don’t fergit!” this is a family park!

Ride Wild Eagle an extra time for me, and Tennesee Tornado for Vanni! Aside from the coasters, I really like the Dizzy Disk, and Barnstormer is fun, too. Any show I've ever seen there has been great, and the shops are interesting, too.

You'll have a blast. It really is a great little park.

If you want to save on parking, you can take the trolley from lots of places in town really cheap!
