I have some news about Heritage USA. Not long ago there was a topic about this, but this is MAJOR news. Heritage USA has been sold. I repeat, Heritage USA has been sold. I just heard this on the six o'clock news on channel 3 (WBTV.) The person who purchased it, and this is going to be a shocker , plans to develop it into residential housing etc.. Now the plans are not official, but that is what the said. Bummer, I was hoping that they would redevelop it into a huge water park!!! But, just thought that I would let you all know this.

We sure don't need any here in Union County. I wish that they would just re build the resort and redo the water park. They could give PC a run for ther money in the water park.

Oh, goody. More cheaply built, over-priced, too close together houses. Golly, I
sure wish I could've bought it. I would love to be able to build an amusement park.
Not to compete with Carowinds, I would build a park with rides from the past and maybe a few dark rides and a nice big wooden coaster. Not too many high speed, high tech thrills, but I think it would be fun to do something unusual.
Something "dark", something....very Tim Burton. ("Life's no fun without a good scare") Mwahahaha! Oh well ... I hate to hear that property was bought for houses. :angry:

Oh well, that's too bad, even though i never even thunk of setting foot in this place, it is still sad to see somthing go from waterpark, to a housing complex cheaply built, over-priced, too close together houses.

Well I'll be sad to see the water park go. But it's been empty so long I bet it's worthless now.

I'll be glad to see them implode (sp?) the tower that was never finished.

I read an article this weekend that said Heritage USA waterpark attracted upwards of 6 million visitors a year back in the early 80's while Carowinds is struggling just to reach the 2 million mark to this day..

I've kinda thought the Concord Mills area could benefit from a nice Water Park.

Maybe with a Nascar Influence.

there are very few/no tourists in charlotte, so I don't think the local pop. could support 2 parks. When charlotte can support a MLB team, then I think we can support another park.

Yes, I agree with that statement, but there are many visitors from all over to the Concord Area... and it's off a major Highway. However... with Emerald Pointe and Carowinds both having established water parks, a third in between would struggle I suppose.
