General Carowinds discussion

Easter weekend is terrible.... I made the mistake of going and lines are long. Afterburn was at the bottom of steps and Thunder Road was backed up the ramp to the spilt.

Yea I was there in line when it happened, dude hurled all over the catwalk and the side of the chair. I was praying no one was walking underneath that portion of catwalk being its right by the gift shop.

It was only a matter of time! I've always been paranoid being on a coaster that someone in front of me will puke and it will fly back. I'm kinda mad someone puked on those nice new trains, even though you know they couldn't help it.

What would have happened had there not been a B&M engineer there? Just wondering

I've done row 1 twice and row 8 twice, and a few in between rows. Row 8, seat 4 is my favorite seat. Also Mike Fehnel's favorite. The sideways airtime coming off the back turn is a force unlike any I have ever felt in all my coaster years.

I agree 100%. The off-your-seat floating sensation on the way down is pure gold. I'm almost to the point of thinking anything much higher will not be tolerable to many folks. The pull-out forces are also wickedly strong. Def the highest positive G force on the ride.

I'll email Jason, the electrician whose company did all the electrical work and lighting. I'd like to know that too.

As great as FURY 325 is, the ramp hill baffles me. No true coaster enthusiasts like these so-called ramps. IMO, the only mistake in the rides design. But the airtime hill that follows "almost" makes up for this flaw.

j___sante wrote: the camelback is flojector gold. perfectly executed despite the trim. the double helix is also well executed, taken at just the right speed. gracefully forceful. the headchopper support gets every first-time rider... love it.
This would have been better as a ground level helix as opposed to it's slightly angled design. The speed would be faster and the sensation of the ground passing you at that speed would be incredible. Just my 2¢.

FURY 325 is just incredible all the way around. No, it's not without flaws, but it's pretty damn close. I have a friend coming to town next Tuesday who will be with a coaster enthusiast from Australia. Then, sometime in May another Aussie friend of mine will make the journey. I always like to hear others opinions of our coasters so there are many fun days ahead of me.

Thunder Road had a line? Haven't seen that in 30 years.

I rode Fury 325 twice today. Lines moved fast, which was great. The first time, they teamed a kid up with me and my girlfriend and he was trying to give the attendant his cell phone because he didn't have pockets, but they told him he had to keep it on him. The second time, the people who screen at the front of the entrance line told some people they couldn't take their bags inside and they needed to use the locker, so they are really enforcing this no loose articles policy. Which I do like that idea as it makes loading and unloading the trains so much faster. I'm sure this has been covered, but a couple of questions about the lockers. How much are they and how big are they. Usually the only loose items we have in a group of 4 people would be 3 or 4 water bottles. Could we share 1 locker for that? I have always claimed Afterburn as my favorite ride, but Fury 325 has moved to the top spot. Speaking of Afterburn...they were only running 1 train today when I was over that way, and the line was crazy. First time I have been to Carowinds and have not been on Afterburn.

I was in the last row of the train that the guy puked on. Everyone, especially those of us in the very back, were thankful that it happened when it did because if it had happened while the ride was moving, well that would have been it for me on that thing for a while.. or at least in the back.

Later in the day (warmed up to actually feel hot but in the mid-70s) I rode again. 4th row, seat 1. Again hands up the whole way. Trim brake DID engage that time. But what I experienced was a vibration most of the ride (experienced it REAL BAD on Afterburn on right side of row 5 in the Cardinal train too). It was bad enough that the base of my skull actually hurt when I got off. If that had been my FIRST ride, I may not have gotten back on. Actually it was bad enough that I wouldn't have gotten back on. (Family was with me so I only rode twice.)

Here's my question. Is there a reason for this vibration? A bad Wheel? SURELY, it shouldn't do that. My first ride was smooth as silk. Maybe someone here can get word to Mike or someone else to answer that (or maybe check on it.)

Has anyone else mentioned this.....seems kinda strange.

Along with that vibration, I'm sure a lot of you were there Friday but did anyone come on Saturday in the afternoon when the ride started to make that squealing noise as it came around the last turn right before it pulls into the station? I asked somebody yesterday and she was unsure of what the noise was. I was curious because it wasn't making that noise at first. Has anyone else noticed that?

Well, I plan to return to the park this Friday, so am I to assume that we should do Fast Lane Plus? We can all afford it.
