Look at the above itinerary for last year's event at CP. We were fortunate enough to attend it last year.
Basically, any coaster club card carrying member (of CP's recognized clubs) was able to register. Last year, the event was free for those who registered. There were limited camp sites. Those were taken up pretty quickly, so they then made the event open to anybody who wanted to attend (who was still a card carrying member of a coaster club). In fact, those people were able to +1 the event too. If you did not have a ticket or season pass to get into the park for the 2-day event, tickets were provided.
They had ERTs that first night and again the next morning. Unfortunately, there wasn't a coaster that was open all night. I think the last coaster closed at 12am (midnight). But, the catered dinner that first night was very delicious - basic food, but they had plenty, and it was tasty. Since this was part of our coaster road trip, we were exhausted that first evening, so we slept in during the rainy morning that was ERT on Millennium Force - my only regret.
Now, fast forward to 2015. Cedar Point is doing Coaster Campout again, but there are some changes. First, the event is open to anybody who wants to register. Second, the event is limited to just those camping in the park. Lastly, and possibly most importantly, the event is NOT free. The camping spots are $200, and they hold up to 4 people. But, that $200 price is the same whether you have 1 person or 4 people on a campsite.
------ Carowinds possibility?
A lot of the CA team are anxious to see if this comes to fruition at Carowinds for 2015 or 2016. Will it happen? Will it be camping only option? Will there be a price? Fingers crossed that this event happens and becomes an annual event!
