^ ^^ thanks guys, really appreciate that site (carowindsearlyyears.com). it makes it easier for me to see where some of our older patrons, who may have been visiting the park since its opening in 1973, are coming from when expressing concern about continued "de-glorification" and such.

had no idea paramount was responsible for removing the majority of plantation-esque buildings at the park's front, replacing them with blander art deco ones, and re-purposing many venues throughout the park into more questionable attractions, etc.

no doubt we've come a long way.

Just going back and looking at the photos from the 70s and 80s all the water that was in the park is out if the world this generation would probably never know this. I for one do remember rivers streams and ponds that helped separate the different areas. I wonder if they kept the wate from and trees from back then with the rides we have today how the park would be set.

I noticed that Kings Dominion has hedges shaped like The PEANUTS characters. I'd love to see something similar at Carowinds but with different Carolina themes. Maybe there could be a first flight hedge with the Wright Brothers plane. Another would be a cannon for the civil war. These would be in addition to the floral clock at the former entrance sign.

Don't you mean the War of Northern Aggression?

I noticed you mentioned that before, but I'm not sure where you are talking about putting the clock. I love a good floral/topiary display, but not sure of the location you mention.

No offence, but that is a horrible idea. What does Carowinds have to do with the Civil War? Nothing.
Just because it's in the South? That makes no sense and would just further the stereotype that southerners can't get over the war. That'd be like waving the confederate flag "just because" it's the South.

I don't think there's enough room, honestly.

I would rather see the whore plaza converted to have a grand, circular fountain at it's center as remodel inward.

Why did they remove the gold letters? Couldn't they have both the sign and the letters? That spot looks so bare now.

But that's the best place for lonely dudes to hang out.
