General Carowinds discussion
#75485
Hey guys I'm new to the site and I'm looking forward to riding Fury next week. I found out about this site about a year ago when I first decided to visit Carowinds and this site is one of the best park sites that I have seen. I'm also on TPR and I feel that they are a bunch of d*ck riders as well. It's depressing going there and seeing the hate about a ride that most people haven't ridden yet.

P.S. The above post on TPR is classic.

Can we please not turn this thread into "Things TPR said about Fury" or "Bad stuff about TPR?"

Bashing another forum for their opinions (however biased they may be) comes across petty and childish. I would hope the other mods agree with me, that I would like to see Carowinds Connection held to a higher standard.

Back to our regularly scheduled thread...

so, my favorite seat on Fury is the back left, but if I want more forces, I'll sit in the front left seat. I could barely keep my eyes open on the front. Next time my friend will need to wear some goggles to keep his contacts from drying out!

I know I know, i just read the post above but hey guys, You cant let one or two people on a site ruin it for you. I really enjoy being over there and I am an avid poster. Do I think some people are hypocritical over there, yes...as I do on other sites as well. Have I always been "well behaved" over there lol absolutely not but I haven't been met with the same demise as some of you. I think almost all sites dedicated to this hobby is a plus. If it wasn't for that site I would not have had a great time in Disneyland due to the locals giving tips and suggestions. As well as if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have had great times at arowinds with some of you guys. I have learn to just read some comments and move on. There is no changing peoples' minds especially on the internet most times.

I think we can collectively agree Firy 325 is a great investment for the park and the recent crowd numbers can prove that...

^ I know Jay requested we stop talking about TPR here... but I have to reply to Coasterbruh's assertion above that "You cant let one or two people on a site ruin it for you."... it's more like one or two hundred on TPR, and with the biggest "one" being the owner of the site (and his moderator clones), it is doomed forever to being a POS.

I lurk over there sometimes but i found it odd that one of my employers IP addresses was banned there for spamming. Must be someone else. LOL. I've never joined. I prefer it over here where people can have civil disagreements. :)

So anyways, back to Fury325 and not the B&M-Intamin holy war. Some users over at TPR mentioned the lack of netting on Fury. Do you guys feel that netting is unnecessary or that nets are needed? Fury does get pretty close to the ground at times. I just wonder if no netting is a safety hazard.

There are a ton of great amusement park websites, forums, and clubs. If you think one specific website is filled with annoying people and run by a megalomaniac jerk, why would you even go there to begin with, and even worse why would you come try and spread that disease over to this site??? If you have a problem with that place then realize that you are only feeding it by giving them hits, posts, and opportunities to pleasure each other over telling you how wrong you are.

I don't like the place and I don't like the cruel way people are treated there, so I don't go there. I don't need to see that stuff all copy and pasted over here. If you like that website or any other site or club, that's fine; I certainly don't compel anyone to share my opinion. You are welcome to post there and post here. But keep that stuff over there.

People should probably also get used to hearing less than glowing Fury reviews. There are going to be people who don't think it's the best and for legitimate reasons (having not ridden it and bashing it because your idol told you to not being a legitimate one). Everyone has different tastes. So far though those folks are in the minority (which is also fine; I know I'm in the minority by having Magnum XL 200 as my favorite steel).

I for one absolutely hate netting. It makes the ride look ugly and cheap to me. I find them unnecessary, however I do understand why the are placed. Look at Diamondback, Goliath, Shambala, and the list goes on all beautiful coaster but that netting makes them look horrendous. I dont even like the fencing up the lift hills and on brake runs.

My break runs don't have fencing, its usually me running across the street to get a snack...but It only last 15 minutes so I may have missed it lol.

I wonder the reasoning for the immelman on top gun to have the netting but the hill over the station doesn't? It seems to be an influx of security in the plaza and all over the park so I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to try something.

I hope they keep it net less!

I really don't think they will put netting out there. It will be a terrible visual to have at the front of the park. **Some webmasters and moderators take members for granted and feel they are doing them a favor by allowing you to join and participate. Every poster should be appreciated because without them the site would be nothing. I know a couple of older coaster sites that are a shell of what they use to be because folk abandoned them over abusive treatment.

I got a chance to go this weekend. Fury 325 delivered more than I expected! Its aggressive and I like it. Only took 40 minutes (average) for each time. Total of 6 rides. Rode row 8 first two times, then row 7, then row 1, and thenlast ride on row 4. The best to me is the back!!
