While it was great to see you all last week at the Fury 325 Media Day. Some of you knew I wasn't feeling up to par. That evening I was given the news that I have Pancreatic Cancer. I am scheduled for a major and very dangerous surgery on Friday April 10th at CMC Main. I have a tumor on the head of my pancreas. If the tumor hasn't spread I will be having the Whipple procedure. The surgery includes a 7-14 day stay in the hospital and then a 6-8 week rehab. After the rehab we will continue to fight the cancer with Chemo and Radiation aggressively.
The next 6 months will be a long haul. I need all the prayers and good thoughts you can muster. This group has become a big part of my life. I will miss seeing you all and sharing jokes on line. I plan on making one last visit to Carowinds on Friday, April 3rd for a couple of hours so my son (who will be visiting from college) can experience Fury 325.
I won't be able to update but my wife, Mindy, can get you updates. Her mobile is 704-560-9333. Some of you have met here.
I will miss you all and please keep me in your prayers. Don't be strangers.

Howard I am absolutely gutted to hear this. I know this couldn't have come at a worse time (not that there is ever a good one), but I also know that you are one of the more upbeat and positive people I've ever met which is going to be important in the next few months. We'll be thinking of you and if there's anything we can do to help you or Mindy let me know.

Howard, I hate to hear this news, but know that everyone here will be thinking of you, and if you or your wife need anything, let anyone here know.

And when you're feeling better, you're gonna come back here and let us all know that you're back on the boards, deal?

I'll keep you in my thoughts Howard and I know you're strong enough to get through this.

So very true, Jay.

Howard, so, so sorry to hear this. Prayers sent for a full and speedy recovery!
