General Carowinds discussion

Another thread made me think about this. While chilling at the park with my wife we had nothing to do but sit in the shade, walk, and eat since we were just hanging around so my daughter could enjoy the park with a friend.

Carowinds has thrill rides, although there may be an argument that they need more. Carowinds could use more flat rides, which many of us agree on. However they are sorefully missing 'chill rides.' Those are rides that anybody can ride and just chill out on. Off the top of my head I can only think of one, and that is the skytower. (One big chill ride that was lost that many miss including me is the Sternwheeler.

What other chill rides do you think Carowinds needs?

Carousel
The pedal planes (If you're brave...hi roller  )
Boo Blasters
The shows
Skytower
The train...

Honestly, not too many parks have "chill" rides anymore. Chill rides are generally transportation rides or dark rides. They don't really bring in the crowds.

Carowinds, the thrill capital of the south...

I like the transportation authority idea but I do see coasterbruh's point that not many parks are adding anything like that anymore, it seems they continue to take them out as they get older and become more expensive to maintain.

I did forget about the carousel but I don't consider the train (with almost no track) or the pedal planes chill rides. They are kiddie rides. I also don't count the shows and dark rides since it is hard to have a conversation on/during them.

I wish we could see more real trains, sky bucket rides, boat rides, ferris wheels, etc. I guess most parks now are more interested in big ticket thrill items although any time I go to a park with the above attractions, they always have a line of people waiting to ride. 'Chill rides' where you can have a conversation with friends/family and take anybody on it regardless of nearly any physical limitations really round out parks and give non thrill seekers something to do.

Cedar Point is the roller coaster captial of the world but several other CF parks have close to the same number of coasters. I agree with Arby, we need more "chill" rides. A new car ride for the third freaking time and they didn't remove the last one for anything good.

A Ferris Wheel, a medium sized one

A smaller version of the Riverboat similar but with some sort of theming.

"Pedal Planes" that aren't enclosed, Hi Bruh!

I read this wrong! I thought you were wanting to see what rides were already in the park lol lol. Lets see...
- a monorail ride with air condition
- a history museum (i know its not a ride but it has the "chill" factor)
- a garden area, well they kinda do have something like that with dino alive

Now you mention a chill ride where you can have a convo, That kinda narrows it down to transportation rides which I don't think the park has the space for, unless it travels outside the boundaries of the park.

How about a Re-Built Skytower
I agree with the Monorail. I would love to see the old train and Sternwheeler brought back.
If they made Dinosaur's Alive awesome, that would be pretty cool.
I like the Museum Idea.

Actually that title has been held by Six Flags Magic Mountain since 2011. Cedar point IS the roller coaster capital of Cedar Fair, though.

As far as chill rides go, Carowinds already has Skytower, Windseeker, Yoyo, Boo Blasters, whatever the Dino movie is called, and a couple others. There's still a lot that the park needs, but I wouldn't list chill rides as one of them.

A Ferris wheel is definitely needed. I think the "chill rides" issue is getting more common. There are less and less rides that the entire family can enjoy.

At least Carowinds has a Skytower that everyone can enjoy.

I'm not a mod on this site by any stretch, but I figured I'd drop this just in case:
