Charlotte Observer interview with Chef Kris...
...At an Indian supermarket, he found wheat pellets and discovered that when you fry them, they turn into crispy tubes in different colors. He flavors them with fruit powders and calls them Fun Fries.

They’re such a hit, they may be added at other parks in the Cedar Fair Entertainment chain.

I think he knows that, that's why he's asking the question.

I didn't see them in the park anywhere; I had them at the media event. Maybe they will be at Taste of the Carolinas.

On the fence about the dining plan. I've been looking for menu prices online, but can't find them. We are going to buy season tickets this year, but haven't been to Carowinds in years.

Is there enough variety without burgers and chicken fingers?

How much do meals run?

Also, do they serve brewed sweetened tea?

Meals are 9.99 in Harmony Hall not including drink.
they serve sweet tea although I have no idea if it's good.
There are plenty of choices besides chicken fingers in the park.

Harmony Hall is your best option to eat at that is just not burgers and chicken fingers. Most meals are 9.99 however some places they are 14.99 depending on what you get. Harmony Hall has a salad type bar which is nice. Lots of toppings to choose from, just tell them what you want on it. A nice healthy change, also the pulled pork in Harmony Hall is good. If you look online under All Season Dining it tells you alot of what is offered. In my opinion it is worth it. Also drinks aren't included but for Tea you can't beat Chic-fi-la

Get the pass. If you come 10 times a year, eat two meals each time, that's like 200.00 worth of food? Why would anyone consider anything other than getting it????

Thanks for all the replies. We went today, and got the dining plan. Ate at the Harmony Hall and enjoyed ribs, okra & tomatoes, and yummy sweet tea with my refillable mug. Park was crowded due to some kind of middle school musical festival, but weather was great!

Think we will go on Sunday after church next time. Are Sundays lots less crowded?

Dabrian is correct, Sundays are usually less crowded although in recent years that hasn't always been the case.

If we go on a Sunday, we usually go first thing in the mornings when the park is usually not too crowded. We then head out around 1:00 when you can see the non-stop flow of people coming in after church. We sometimes then come back around dinner time when the park starts thinning out again.

Welcome.

I really hate to post this but to be completely honest, the best meal that I have had on the dining pass so far this season has been the cheese steak at Chickie's & Pete's. The bread was soft and moist, the steak was cooked well, and the grilled onions were perfect. Unfortunately the margarita wasn't included. ;)

Since they were slow, I was able to interact with the staff more than usual. They let me know that the great Chickie's and Pete's ale was only there for a few weeks last year. I do wish they would bring that back. The service that I got at Chickie's and Pete's was truly remarkable. I was waffling between the steak and chicken so the guy at the register recommended I try the steak since it was my first time.

While I was eating, one of the ladies brought me out a sample of the chicken to try without me even asking. Either is a win.

Refillable Mug question...

We bought 4 refillable mugs yesterday. For future visits, do they keep up with who mugs belong to? Two of us are planning to go next week, and I have no idea who used which mug. If they track mugs per person, I wish they would have different colors or designs to make it easier to keep up with. TIA.

I need to try C&P. Since Harmomy Hall opened last year I've not strayed away from the brisket of pulled pork sandwiches with Mac & cheese. Thankfully thsts on the dining plan.
