It looks like the classic mountain with stars symbol may be a giant ferris wheel... COOL!

Anyway, from recent surveys and the stronger theming with Borg I am totally excited to see where Paramount is headed with their parks. Testing of parades and movie magic shows is interesting too, but this new park looks to be a prototype of what is to come from now on... much more movie influence, much stronger tie-ins, and a much bigger backing of the parks in general.

Then again, this could be strictly an overseas endeavor and we will never reap any benefits of it here in the states.

Thoughts, opinions, questions? It is suppose to be open in 2010.

I've always thought a huge wheel would look good at Carowinds. I was disappointed when the triple wheel deal from PGA fell through.

I'm very excited about Paramount Studios Japan. It seems like it will have some very exciting concepts in it. I can't wait until they release some more artwork.

Recently Viacom transfered management the parks from the Paramount Pictures branch to Nickelodeon branch. (or something like that)

Duke, I can't even remember the year the <a href='http://americas.best.vwh.net/mga/skywhirl01.html' target='_blank'>SKY WHIRL</a> was removed from PGA. I am thinking it was around 1999 give or take a year. Yes, just like Stealth, we were to get this beautiful triple wheel ride. The reason it fell through from what I heard was that they could not find a suitable location in the park to put it. As far as I know, the ride is still in storage awaiting a buyer.

Well, I hope somebody buys it. I believe the other tripple wheel (From SFGAm) was scrapped a few years ago.

Too bad there are not many of those impressive Intamin ferris wheel-like contraptions left. I think Hersheypark still has it's double-armed Intamin FW.

It would have been awesome if the Sky Whirl was brought back to life at Carowinds. PGA has a bad habbit of removing the older, slower attractions, like the American Scenic Railroad.

I think with them breaking ground on an all new adventure and being able to build it from the dirt up should give them a good clean slate. As far as why the built it in Japan instead of here...I can only guess that it will make more money in a shorter time span than it would over here. Plus if it fails or gets bad reviews they can improve it before we get one in the states.

2010 is not that far away for creating a Theme Park from scrath but I hope they let us be test subjects for new style attractions.

Totally Correct, that's why are conversions to more movie rides and tie-ins have taken a while. We are really just now becoming "Paramount" parks with rides, but still have a way to go in areas too. Still, with additions like the Boardwalk and the new Wild Mice coasters you can see Paramount wants to keep these parks hybrid to an extent.

I never thought about them building concept rides here to test out first. <_<

As far as why they built in Japan... Companies overseas are helping fund the project and want to see it happen, as was similar cases with Universal and Disney. Outside companies help fund the parks and really want to see them exist so things get done in Japan with minimal difficulties.

Hopefully a 100% Paramount park will spring up in the states someday if Japan is successful. Question is... where is a good spot? Over-park saturated Orlando?

Its just a drawing for a press release. The coasters there are just generic ones used to spice up the pic.

Well, sad news Duke. I had been awaiting an email from someone as to the fate of PGA's Sky Whirl (triple wheel) and just got a reply today.

He said "PGA Guest Relations in 1997 told me about the plans for it to be relocated to Carowinds in 1998. But, after it was taken down, it was stored in PGA's "bone yard" for many years. A few years ago, orders were issued to clean out the bone yard. Those orders included the scrapping of the Sky Whirl/Triple Wheel."

That is sad news. It's too bad they scrapped such a beautiful ride. He did manage to salvage 3 of the cabins and currently has them in storage. You can see them in his storage facility here:
