RollerBee wrote:I wanna see this original design cause I worked at Goldrusher and heard the same rumor then. The only Arrow Mine Trains I have seen with different lapbars are Hershey and Great Adventure both redone in the 2000s.

I have dug for pictures but never found any.

The newer Arrow mine trains like Adventure Express (1991) and Thunderation (1993) have individual lap bars. The cars are basically identical to Magnum XL 200 (except Magnum had upstop wheels instead of pads installed shortly after it opened). Also those happen to be the best mine trains I've ever been on outside of a Disney park.

I can remember riding Goldrusher with my parents with just the big lapbar. This would be around 1979. It was like that for a while. At least into the mid-to-late 80s. I can remember the point where I was too tall to fit comfortably - I was in High School - At 6'3" I can fold myself in right now, but its not exactly fun anymore. - especially with the current restraints. Its too bad because Goldrusher is one of my favorite rides.

Agree. Goldrusher's restraints were probably changed sometime in the 80's. When I sat with my parents on it was back in the 70's. The restraints now are ridiculous and there's no room for 2 people let alone 2 and a child. Someone needs to take a hard look at that and come up with a better solution. Back in the day they ran 3 trains at once and were able to keep up. Now, there's almost no point in running 2 because the other train is back and waiting for a good while before the next train even dispatches.

Come on Carowinds. This can DEFINITELY be improved.

The seatbelts slow down the loading process, they get twisted and jam too easy. If we didn't have problems with seat belts, it is possible to get the train out before the next one stops on the brakes.

Not sure the seat belts actually DO anything on that ride. The lap-bar is more than enough.

That's just like Rip-Roarin. Those seat belts are a joke and shouldn't even be there. They wouldn't help in any major event and would probably hinder someone trying to escape in an emergency. The 2 school age guys sitting across from me last Saturday actually got out of their seat without event releasing the belt. If we're gonna have them, lets have them where they can actually tighten (either by hand or by retraction) and can actually do some good.

Yeah um... I have never owned a cell phone of any kind, so not everyone. There are still a few of us out here who don't want to irradiate our brains. (In addition to not wanting to be constantly in touch, in addition to not wanting to be easily tracked by the government, in addition to finding cell phone marketing to be the most repugnant thing ever.)

On that note though, I did manage to connect via laptop to a network called "Fury 325" but couldn't actually get internet off of it. Does it work for anyone else?

JosieQ, I am with you on that note. I've never owned a cell phone and really have no intentions of owning one. However, I have been in those situations where a cell phone was needed and regretted not having one.

Anyway, back to our hopeful wishing.

Josie, is there anything you're not terrified of?

As for Wifi, they are rolling out park wide wifi chain wide eventually, as was stated in the recent conference call. Amos, I'm suprised Mike didn't tell you.

You're right, fear of death is silly and brain cancer's not scary at all. Boy I need to grow a pair.

*Chokesnort*

FamousAmos, I think I can only count about one time I've ever actually needed a cell phone, but I can count a billion times I've needed the thousands I've saved on NOT having one. ;)

Also, dangers and cost and other issues aside... I just can't become a cell phone user out of principle. I've yet to meet a person who has one (which is virtually everyone of course) who doesn't pull it out to text while you're talking to them at some point, like an absolute asshat, without even an apology because it's so completely normal and everyone does it that it's not even seen as wrong or rude anymore. The implosion of our culture is unstoppable, but at least I can refuse to be a part of it!

And if you're still with me and not backing away slowly, avoiding eye-contact, we should get together in the woods with other like-minded people and shake sticks at the sky as we rant about the stupidity and low attention-span of people nowadays, the sad way they can't personally connect with each other anymore because they're afraid of feelings and relationships (a dumb thing to be afraid of, not like death and cancer which are valid fears to have Edwardo, if you're still paying attention), the doom, THE DOOOOOOOM, WHAT'S WRONG WITH EVERYONE??!?!!

Or I can go to the woods by myself, it's fine, I'll just bring a book to break up the episodes of stick-shaking and shouting, I don't need company, I'll go by myself!

*Runs off, sniffling and ranting about how no one ever accompanies her into the woods to shake sticks at the sky*

...

(I only just woke up. I'll be slightly more stable in an hour or two. Only slightly, though, don't nobody get their hopes up.)
