General Carowinds discussion

I don't know if I like the idea of a petting zoo or wild animals wandering around everywhere. Remember they poop everywhere, and can spread disease. And a bad odor. You want to avoid potential problems and the tragic deaths like what occurred at the State Fair in Raleigh and the Cleveland County Fair in Shelby. Although I do like how the animals interact at Busch Gardens Tampa.

They'd be in a petting zoo, not just wandering around. I feel like bringing back the petting zoo is necessary to give the RFD that "farm feel." There is some real potential in that area for theming.

I don't see one coming back. I don't see people flocking to CW to pet some farm animals. Would it be a nice addition in terms of a themed area? Perhaps. Just don't see it happening.

Thank you for the welcome, Coasterbruh, and nice to meet you! Have a brownie. I just made them, but they're from a mix, so they're not great. Still free brownies. *Brownie*

shane235, I like your ideas, and would like to add myself that I don't think Boomerang Bay is very good in general. I go to Carowinds for the roller coasters and not the water park section, so it doesn't really matter to me, but as a water park it's one of the worse ones I've been to. My biggest problem is the lazy river, or ehhh what do you call it... I'm looking at the map and maybe it's the Crocodile Run? Maybe not. I only went to the water park section like twice five years ago.

Anyway, my favorite thing in any water park is to get on a tube in a gently-flowing current and float around and around and around for ages. All the ones I went to before Carowinds actually encircled a huge section of park (if not the whole thing) so you could just keep going all day.

I went on the Boomerang Bay one and they made you get off after the one short circuit. I never encountered this before so I wasn't prepared to get off and got shouted at like I was Hitler. I guess the thing is so small that they can't let everyone go multiple times, so I understand (not the shouting part, just the rule), but I'd like it expanded so you could keep going and going.

Even worse than that though, there was a person every ten feet shouting at you to stay in your tube. I leaned forward just slightly to reach for my friend's hand, and was shouted at to LAY DOWN IN YOUR TUBE STAY IN YOUR TUBE DON'T MOVE FROM THE PROPER POSITION IN YOUR TUUUUUBE!! The entire thing was a rather terrible experience. DX

At the other water parks I've been to, you can do what you want in your tube. You can stand up in the middle of it and hang with your feet dragging, or slump over it on your stomach, or make a tube-line hanging onto other people. Kids can even try to swim against the current when no one's looking, though of course that's heavily against the rules, and they will shout at you then. XD It's much more relaxed and lazy and fun, and no one even dies!

And tarheel1231, I love your petting zoo idea because I'm an insane animal-lover. (I get along with them far better than I do people, heh.) The only problem with it is that if they do what fairs do and charge like $1 for a little bag of food, I will go bankrupt on the first day. It doesn't matter that they're fed like non-stop to bursting all day long, I still feel responsible for all of them. I missed that guy and he didn't get but a single pellet, get me another bag. That girl didn't see that little guy trying to get her food, I need a bag to make up for it. THAT GUY LOOKS SAD GIVE ME TEN BAGS TO CHEER HIM UP!! CAN I JUST HOCK WHAT I'M WEARING FOR FOOD BAGS PLEASE??!?

But that's just me, probably. <.<

What's the exchange-rate on a pair of pants for bags of animal food pellets, I wonder? Five bags at least, right? I'll just wear layers.

I think a trolley could be the best mode of transportation around the park. No complicated paths would need to be created, it could pretty much just go on the main midways. It'd be unique to Carowinds. I'd like to see a full circle version though:

Anyone remember Jolly Trolly at Disneyland and why it closed? I think Carowinds' walkways are too narrow.

I think there would probably be liability concerns today with streetcars operating on pedestrian midways, especially with the much larger crowds that come to the park.

I wouldn't mind seeing a revamp of the river rapids into something like this...but I wont hold my breath...lol. I'll just head on over to Germany on my Eurpoean tour to ride this and the other amazing highly themed rides and Phantasialand.https://youtu.be/bnjnhgCZKKo

Just felt like sitting this right here....Now you know why I've always preferred European theme parks. Their definition of theme is way different from the U.S. The ride experience is heighten by 1000%. What if this was afterburn? https://youtu.be/exvFLodM--s

I rode River Quest a few years back.. I don't remember too much theming outside of the station, but it was basically a river rapids version of White Water Falls. Probably one of the wettest rides I've been on. And it did have that awesome elevator lift.

And Black Mamba is probably one of the best themed rides outside of Disney, but I would take Afterburn's ride experience any day.

^ Oh of course. I would never give up Afterburn, I was just saying what if Afterburn was heavily themed this way.

Were you able to ride Chiapas the log flume? How was it. I've never seen a switch track log flume. I seems pretty cool going backwards. I wouldnt my something similar at carowinds. I know the themeing (spell check) wouldnt be that extensive though.

My visit to Phantasialand was in 2007, long before Chiapas was ever thought of probably. I will say the park was amazingly themed from top to bottom, and was strangely "layered" so you really never quite knew where you were. They had a plethora of dark rides all of which were pretty amazing. Would love to go back some day.

Six Flags America had a "switch track" log flume for a time. It wasn't really anything special.

Is it your goal to make everyone panic about some ride being removed 24/7?  :D
