Amazing how adding translucent sections to a not so translucent water slide will make all the difference...

If Carowinds keeps Thunder Road, this is how I could see the water park expanding:

KEY
1. New drop capsule slide complex.
2. New splash pad with larger bucket.
3. Racing Water Coaster with layout similar to Deluge.
4. New mat racer slide.
5. Fast lazy river
6. New water park entrance by South Gate
7. Entrance from waterpark through Thunder Road.

As much as I would LOVE to see that all happen next year, it seems unlikely that Cedar Fair would double the size of Carowinds' water park in just one year. Even if they are trying to make us the "Cedar Point of the South".

I'm sure crazier things have happened, although I personally don't think it will be nearly as significant an upgrade as some people seem to be expecting. Things like this just don't usually happen overnight.

But if Cedar Fair does go so far as to double the water park in just one sweep, that will without a doubt cement the comment they made in the conference call about Carowinds transforming into what they referred to as "our big park" -a comment that initially got me excited, but is kinda hard to wrap my head around. lol.

I don't see what's not plausible about this (other than a new entrance). Cedar Fair wants to continue aggressive spending at the park, and this seems like the kind of thing they'd want to do to make a 'big splash.'

That would be a nice BID splash. If they do go that route I would def like to see the lazy river extended into the new part with some nice landscaping of trees and shrubs for shade to kinda seclude it from the rest of the park also that it doesnt become anything like the current waterpark of cement. In this case since it will be cleared land already, build the rides and drop a 20 loads of trees plants and shrubs to make it look like an Australian paradise. Ha! yea right.

Agreed. The one and only negative thing about Cedar Point for me was Soak City. It just felt a little undersized for the biggest amusement park in the world. Granted, it is moving in the right direction with the much-needed paint jobs and Dragster H2O which were both done in 2012 I believe.
