Thanks for that explanation Arby. I also grew up in PA (Berks County) and went to college in Lancaster County, PA and was trying to figure out what the link was to Shoo Fly pie down here. I haven't tried that yet but I still have a few dollars on my TOTC card.

Chef Jeff from Flip My Food will be hosting a cooking show at Carowinds tomorrow and it will be filmed for his TV show in the fall. He was on the evening news on WBTV. Also at 11pm on WBTV they will have interview with Dolly Parton and she will discuss Dollywood expansion.

So I braved the saturday crowd to experience Taste of the Carolinas. When announced I was quite thrilled to see how this would turn out as well as taste the food offerings. Overall I think it worked. I understand carowinds employs teens so the level of enthusiasm wasn't that high with everyone but I did encounter some great people working the booths. So let's eat!

The first thing I had was the neeses sausage and fig turnover. As you see the portions are not as small as you would think. Moving right a long. To the next booth...

Some of the booths had set ups of the food offerings so you can get an idea of what you are getting. I ended up getting the fried oyster flat bread po'boy...

That happen to be my fav from the entire event. Decided to mosey on to the nc offerings to try the lexington bar b que...

As you see, that's a lot of food for just 4.00! I was getting a little full but I still had money to spend on my card so I figured I'd give the catfish a try.

It was ok...not great but ok. I do like that some booth were upselling the beer and wine offerings with the food offering. At this point I was stuff and didn't eat it all. As I was throwing away the remaining food I was approached by what seemed to be an area lead asked if something was wrong. That was impressive as she could have just said oh well that's his money but she wanted to make sure the food was good. I did have the hash and rice but that did it for me. Man down! I shared some with doug and it still was a plate full left!

Overall it was a good event. I did see people getting the food. Not a stead line but not dead either. Can't wait for it to return!
