I'm glad I'm going to be able to make it up to ride Thunder Road in a couple weeks. There have been several other coasters that have gone bye bye that I didn't get to get one last ride on so I'll have this at least.

I don't care how big the expansion is, there is no justifying Thunder Road's removal. UGH, why couldn't Kings Dominion have gotten this stupid expansion instead?

From the rumors I have heard Kings Dominion is next up for the Cedar Fair treatment.

Nothing will ever be worth the loss of Thunder Road.

I really thought it was all just rumors. I'm sad that they've confirmed it's true. I'm sure whatever we're in for is phenomenal, but I'm gonna miss Thunder Road. It's truly one of my favorite rides in the park, and my daughter loves it, too.

Keep in mind that they are using somewhat caution wording. "Thunder Road will give it's last race." That doesn't necessarily mean that the ride is vanishing completely, but possibly a new experience will be offered on it instead.

For one Rebel Yell is not at the edge of the park like TR, it's in the middle of the park Tarheel.

Well there's mixed emotion on FB more back lash really but a few who support the decision.

^ Merthecat I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe a twisted colossus treatment is on it's way. I do fell Pat Hall just rolled over in his grace a few times.

Makes no sense to spend all that money on it then remove it.
You know all that's happening is a huge water park addition.

Personally, I'm inclined to give Carowinds a chance and see what exactly they're doing, but it had better be good, whatever it is.

Mike is not going to tell some teen on media day about the park's 2016 plans. Never. If Amos asked, Mike had to lie to him. One of his job is to have a poker face in those situations.

Super disappointed but not too surprised - I've learned to expect the worst in these types of situations. I'm just extremely disappointed that a GM that the Carowinds community has put on a pedestal is at least in part behind this decision.

Regardless, I'm going to make sure to make as many trips as possible to get as many rides as I can on Thunder Road. It was my second credit ever and is one of the better coasters at Carowinds. Hopefully another wooden coaster (RMC, perhaps?) can be built so we're not stuck with Hurler as our only major woodie for long.

I'll be the first to Wile E. Coyote that coaster to the ground. It's had a good run but I cant wait to see whats next. Plus the new generation dont appreciate it like we do. But to us it will become folklore. May the Cedar Fair gods be good to us for sacrificing our wooden gold.
