General Carowinds discussion

So much of this just doesn't make any sense to me.

- They spent 5 years retracting it.
- Not only is it possible to go under the ride, Surfer's Swell and Dorsalfin Drop are RIGHT AT the passageway beneath the coaster.
- It is a classic and an icon of the park!

The optimistic part of me wants to say that maybe it'll get the Twisted Collossus treatment, but the realistic part of me thinks that it's both unlikely and too out of budget if a waterpark expansion is to happen. Who knows, hopefully it stays in another form or maybe it has reached it's last days.

Hey guys! I was waiting for this announcement for me to come back and talk.

I love wooden coasters, and all these closures have gotten me nervous for the traditional, non-inverting, not steel topper tracked wooden coaster will come to a death. It scares me because people need to preserve their past whether they agree or don't.

I am so sad to hear about Thunder Road, and there were definitely better options to remove. I heard Hurler is painful, so I'd scrap that before and totally redo that area... a new Giga and Water attractions? That'd be cool!

Unfortunately, Cedar Fair is going on a water park bonanza as well as B&M.... such a shame.

You guys stink for removing Thunder Road!!

Words cannot describe how disappointed I am in Carowinds and Cedar Fair for closing Thunder Road. No water park expansion or log flume could compare to such an iconic ride. I hope they RMC it or restore it somehow, and if they don't, then I might just start getting season passes to Dollywood instead!

How is it dumb? Dollywood is the better park.

Why don't you let the people who run this forum do their job. This is a place for people to voice whatever opinion they want good or bad. I didn't make this site just to be a free PR mouthpiece for the park.

Thanks for telling someone how it is.

This is very disappointing news.

There are only a few coasters at Carowinds for younger people and folks who aren't into big drops or loops. Of the available medium size rides Thunder Road is the best. My family has spent more time on TR than any other ride in the park.

I have no use for a water park expansion. We never go to the water park at Carowinds.
