General Carowinds discussion

My idea is to honestly skip it this season and go somewhere else, if it wasn't for night rides I would. My expectations for last season were the same as years before but the event fell short. It just didn't seem as scary as normal.

After going to Fright Fest at SFOG (lame) and HHN (great but packed to the gills), I realized how good Scarowinds really is. The biggest things that I saw at HHN that would be great to see Scarowinds aim towards:

1) use sound effects here and there for the scaractors
2) have more of them stay in character and not have most of them try to startle people. Sometimes creepy is scarier than getting startled.
3) get all the animatronics working

I've never quite gotten the night ride angle at Scarowinds. I prefer to get my night rides in during ERT at a coaster event and during the summer when the park is open later. The lines are generally much shorter.

I hope the park utilizes the queue space for Rip Roarin' Rapids for a 'Blood on the Bayou'-type maze.

I can't confirm, but, the props are no longer in the middle of the hurler

I believe Carowinds cleaned everything out from there before the park opened this year.

^^This I can confirm. On Media Day, we came into the park from back there and all of the junk was along the outside of Hurler and outside of where it used to be.

I've thought Scarowinds has been dissapointing the last few years. It seems like it was so much better up until 2012/2013 or so. Needless to say I'm not expecting much this fall.

^^Carowinds is open every Friday night until 10:00 PM now through the middle of August. The lines are much shorter right now than they will be for SCarowinds. I went last Friday night and easily got half a dozen rides in for the same amount of time that it will take for one ride during SCarowinds.

We went last Friday as well. The girl I went with had told her babysitter that she would be home by 10:00 (we live in Greensboro). Since we had the Fast Pass, we wanted to get our money's worth and didn't even leave the park till 10:00.
We felt so bad about leaving the sitter waiting. :sarcasm:  She tipped her good so everyone was happy.

I would like to see, maybe not this year but soon, an acrobatic show like this. I had to opportunity to witness this in person at Canada's Wonderland and it was awesome yet freezing lol but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the Haunt as a whole. I guess it was better because Canada doesn't have the crazy "parents against squad" jumping on the gruesome-ness or how ultra scary everything is for the teenagers lol. Carowinds is ultra tame compared to CW's haunt.
