General Carowinds discussion

I made an account on this site to hopefully get some answers from people who frequently go to Carowinds....Have there been any stories of overweight walks of shame on Fury 325? I'm planning on heading down to Carowinds for the first time ever in June and have lost a considerable amount of weight this winter, a possible 20lbs. Last year, when I went to Busch Gardens for the first time, Apollo's Chariot was a pretty tight fit, but I got in. For Apollo's Chariot, you only need it to click once to get on and suppossedly, you need it to click three times on Intimidator 232 and Fury 325. I managed to get it down to two clicks, despite it being a tight fit. Of course, back last year, I was erring close to a possible 49-50 inches on my waist. I'm currently down to 44 inches and hope to be lower than that by the time vacation rolls along.

But here is the deal, I am absolutley frickin' petrified that I have not lost enough weight to go on this ride....I'm currently working my *** off trying to get my weight down lower, but....I just don't know if it will be enough.

Need I be concerned, or no?

I'll post the same thing here that I told you on the other site.
They have a test seat at the entrance before you even step through the queue. Just try it out first, but you should be fine.

I would agree to use the test seat, but while Fury seems a little tighter than I remember Apollo's Chariot being, I imagine it should be <<ok>>. ITs not like they are vastly different in their restraints.

I'm pushing about 285 and I find the ride to be really easy to fit into. Possibly the easiest ride in the park in my experience. I have seen larger people than me fit. There is also a test seat outside the line to..... Well.... Test lol. Would you mind telling me your weight? Not trying to be rude.

I am 282 and I had to do the walk of shame off Fury two visits ago, I didn't try on my last visit. I was 2-3 lighter on the visit before and had to have assistance on Fury 325 but not Intimidator.

fishels: I just weighed myself right now. I'm currently 260lbs. I was 262 the last time I weighed myself so hey, I lost two in the past week! GO ME :)

It's highly possible that I was a good 280-285lbs when I went to Busch Gardens last year and rode Apollo's Chariot, which is a good thing, but I just want to make sure I'm extra safe.

I saw a guy escorted off monday evening and he maybe weighed 220. I've seen plenty of heavier people ride. The op on the back row said it cou ld be numerous reasons but probably that guy was just built wrong in the legs. So maybe thighs are the part people should tone.

I've seen 2-3 people get told they couldn't ride, but then seen several who I had thought would've been a bit too fluffy and they managed somehow. I bet it depends on how you 'wear' your weight also, as I had seen a girl that was heavy (but no where near extremely obese or anything) and because her extra fluff was right around her midsection they couldn't get 2 clicks in. But then there was this larger man who pretty much pulled his gut above the bar and since it clicked- that was good enough.

It is all in the size of thighs and rear. Trick is to not sit to low in seat but keep your rear higher in the seat to bring thighs to a smaller zone. I was in the same boat but I will say that the test seat fit me looser than the actual train. May just be me.

Stupid question but how many clicks do you really NEED?

I always make sure the operators on Intimidator get the 3rd click just because I know they can. Is the third click NECESSARY?

Like someone else said, it's mostly in your thights and butt. At 260-265 mine is in my gut. Depending on my beer intake and how much stuff I put in my pockets, they sometimes have to recheck me but I've never been told to get off. Often they tell you to make sure you are sitting up straight.

I saw a few forced to do the WoS, just today (and plenty all season).

I will say, the crew members are willing to really shove that thing down hard if you'll let them. They don't want to turn you away. One guy in my row today was really sweating it out as the operator in the booth started calling his seat number ...24 ...24... 24. A couple crew members came over and really leaned on it hard. They got the clicks, and he was good to go.

Like I said, I saw some others that weren't able to get the clicks today, but the crew will definitely give you an honest effort to get you on the ride.
