Question:

Which order would you personally rate the coasters at carowinds just to get an idea of how everyone rates TR for their personal scale?

For me, I know Fury 325 would be #1, followed by intimidator or afterburn, and TR would be next. Yes, for me, TR outranks the remaining coasters at Carowinds...

I'm all for the park going into the future and I'm so glad Cedar Fair bought it, it's just that, to me, TR is one of the parks BETTER COASTERS!!

Some of you may feel different. That's just my opinion.

^ I agree with you that Thunder Road is the 4th best coaster at Carowinds. It is simply old-fashioned fun. And while it may not be an amazing wooden coaster, it's more enjoyable then a majority of the coasters in the park. There's going to be a gap in our lineup that will sadly never be filled. But if Cedar Fair wants to take the park into the future, we have to sacrifice some things. I just hope whatever comes next doesn't seem like a pointless decision.

It pre-dates the Thunder Road announcement so no one should have any bias. Most people had Thunder Road ranked high. I had it as my #4 as well after the big three.

Looking back at that thread, I had Thunder Road as my #6 at the time, but that's changed this year (and not just because of this being its last season). I rode Vortex earlier in the season, and it was fairly rough and uncomfortable, so that automatically put TR at #5. Before this season, I hadn't ridden TR in a while, and my previous memories of it were that it was a fun but fairly rough coaster. However, my last visit, the coaster felt smoother than it had ever felt before, and it was just as fun as always. As of right now, it's tied with Nighthawk for my #4, but I'd have to ride Nighthawk again to give one of them the definite edge.

Honestly Thunder Road was my favorite until Fury 325. I just LOVE old woodies!

I currently have Thunder Road as # 5. This will likely change next week since I hadn't been to the park since 2008. I have not ridden Carolina Cobra (which I'm sure will be a worse ranking than TR...lol), Intimidator or Fury 325. In addition I hadn't ridden TR since it's refurbishment so I won't know how it will rank until I re ride everything. Pretty much my whole personal ranking will change. Afterburn is my #1 there so I will have to see if the others knock it out of place. I tend to prefer inverts & floorless coasters over the hypers I've been on...even though they are good in their own way.

Ran into Wormy this afternoon, I made a statement I now regret. Last week I didn't see many markings around the waterpark. This week, they are Everywhere. From around the changing areas to lazy river and even to the wading pools.
