General Carowinds discussion

Exactly. They are failing to see the value of guest experience by having this high capacity, low wait ride. At King's Dominion, King's Island and Carowinds, coaster riding customers can get many rides on these racing coasters even on busy days. If all you do is stand in long lines all day, it becomes an unpleasant experience and not worth going back....Parks need high capacity rides. Disney has the busiest parks in the world, but they are smart enough to have high capacity rides that you can get on with minimal waits even on busy days......

Thanks for stamping out some ignorance on my part! I always thought the reason I never EVER had to wait long for TR was because of low ridership. I didn't know this was because it was a high capacity ride. But it is essentially 2 roller coasters connected to each other, so it makes sense!

Most racing coasters can do about 2400 an hour if you run them with all trains, and load perfectly. Windseeker has a hourly capacity of about 900. Timmy and Fury can do 1600 and 1400 respectively. However, Thunder Road isn't popular enough to warrant the use of all four trains a vast majority of the time. I suppose if they put something new and flashy there it would be to create a triangle of new, and popular rides to try to channel traffic (almost) evenly across the park. Fury on one end, Timmy at the front, and whatever would potentially replace Thunder road on the other end. Steve has said they want to spread the renovations throughout the park, and that area is the most neglected part of the park as it stands. I would hate to think they gut that whole section only for the waterpark, although I feel a majority of the space would be used to expand Boomerang Bay/Soak City/(Insert name here).

I think they may move Dodgems to that area, close off the existing waterpark gate and build a new connection in the County Fair. As of now, the markings only go as far as between Dodgems and Southern Star.
