RMC could even design the trains to look reminiscent to the original trains. One track could be yellow, the other blue, with white supports. After the initial drop, the two tracks could intertwine with each other, providing both speed, airtime, and inversions. Even though it's just an out-and-back, there's a lot that can be done with Thunder Road. Just throwing out ideas.

I do believe 99% that thunder road is on its way out.

What I believe is that this year with the removal of thunder road they will put a water/dive coaster in its place, which both, in a way make a "big splash" which is just my Opinion.

I also believe within 2 years we will have a new log flume, new slides, and a new water park entrance, as well as more dark rides and an expanded planet snoopie with Dinos going bye bye!

I have wondered since the park said that Thunder Road is giving it's last race they might just take out one side, it wouldn't really make since but I would be okay with it.

I would be ok with removing one side, Six Flags St. Louis did it with their mine train coasters. One is still operating, the other was sold to Dollywood and later Magic Springs.

You guys realize how little sense that makes, right? If they are making room for expansion then only taking out one side literally does nothing.

Yes.....
Time to return to the real world I guess.
I wanted to start Summer Vacation early. :sarcasm:

^^ Devil's advocate here, if they did take out just the right side for example, it would open up..

A nice area for a new waterpark entrance plaza with plenty of storage and new changing rooms, possibly even a slide or two, with a walkway heading right through TR's station turnaround joining back up at the wave pool. They could remove Action theatre and expand the country fair in that direction.

And a good sized area where the turnaround is to expand and put a big slide complex back there too.

am I the only one that thinks if they remove 1 side of thunder road it will no longer be structurally sufficient. Its not as easy as u guys think.

I was over in the waterpark on Sunday and just kept looking at the gate and the path under Thunder Road that was put in last year with new slides. Why would they do this for only one season of use?

Why's that? The batter braces would have have to be rebuilt to match the other side. The footings are not connected to each other like Hurler. Anyone know if the two sides are connect or actually independent of da each other. For example the Expedition Everest, it is three separate structural systems. I know the odds are 0:100 but Jonathan, would do you think it is structural possible?

The lift hills are not connected but they share supports. I haven't looked at the rest of the structure very carefully.

There are a couple of clues (namely this and the amount of money poured into the GCI rehab) that suggest that there could be something seriously wrong with the ride. This certainly does not appear to be something that was in the long-range plan. Hopefully all will be revealed some day. It would restore some of my faith in Cedar Fair if there were structural issues that factored into the removal rather than just deciding to take out a perfectly fine coaster.

It was posted on May 29 from a different site. At least they were smart enough this time to not make the documents available for download.
