For future reference: Last year I slept over at a friend's house, and in the morning we decided to go to Carowinds. We called them and they said to go to guest services, they ask for your name and D.O.B, then give you a ticket. You are allowed to use this 3 times in one season before they charge you $15 to make a new card. Worked fine, although I don't know how this would work I'd you wanted to use the meal plan...

^Thanks! That seems easy.

General park comments from my first trip this year:
I miss the old entrance, especially the plantation house. To me, it was one of the things that made Carowinds seem special. But I think the new entrance is something I can be fine with if you give me some time. It looks pretty nice.

I hate seat assignments on rides. At least, on Afterburn and Intimidator, they let us wait for the first or last row when we asked. On Fury they don't ): (Yes I know there are signs that say you can't but I still don't understand why not in the first place)

If they really are short on staff, I would say they 1) don't need seat assigners 2) don't need multiple staff at the Fury queue entrance 3) can have less people taking photos at the front of the park. Most people don't even get their photo taken, let alone buy it. Instead of 3-4 photographers, I think 1-2 would do it.

I could be completely talking out of my butt again ( ) , but I had a friend who was one of the annoying photo people and they were outsourced by an outside company. It doesn't matter if Carowinds didn't have enough people to run even one ride, they would still have 10 people out there taking pictures because Carowinds is not directly paying for those people.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense, as they probably want to hire people with photography experience specifically.

Not really, my friend had just graduated high school and wanted to work in the park without having to do too much. He had no previous experience whatsoever.

There isn't much to those photos, make sure the people are framed properly, and make sure they aren't over or under exposed. It's amazing they need giant SLR cameras to accomplish that.

I figured that I would rant here instead of starting a new topic. What is up with the check points coming into the park? I went yesterday and today and the line was all the way to the parking lot. And I don't carry bags with me. What is the point in pouring all that money into this nice entrance and then having it backed up to the parking lot because of the slow bag checking process. I actually think it was faster last season with the metal detectors and the plantation house. The new entrance looks great, but it is failing in functionality. Badly. When I left around 4 both days, they aren't checking at all. It is very inconsistent in how they are doing it. Just sucks standing in line just to get into the park.
