Hey, I'd LOVE for this to happen, haha. Our layout is just too short though.

Then how do you explain the fact that the General Manager of Cedar Point has alluded on record to plans to do it to the California Vortex next year? It's slightly shorter than the Carowinds Vortex.

I never said it couldn't happen. I know it's not in their plans anytime soon (it's one of the only remaining B&M stand-ups, which is very unique for Carowinds, just ask park management and they'll say the same thing).
Ultimately, it's not the decision of the park GM.
Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't.

Actually, that's exactly what you've said. Over and over and over and over.

FamousAmos wrote:How many times do I have to say this. Carowinds has no intentions of converting Vortex at all. Mike, John, Steve, Laresa, and even Matt told me this. I'm very happy that they will leave Vortex alone. except for maybe a new way of loading riders, new trains, and new paint.

Don't count on management being honest all the time. I was told (as recent as late March) that they were getting quotes to paint Thunder Road for it's 40th next year and that it definitely wasn't going anywhere. We see how that worked out, lol.

I guess that paint quote come back a little high. :?

And again, that's why I never get information from park management.

I would say that if they're already going to convert Vortex West into a floorless, that you can almost bet on them converting Vortex East on Carowind's next 'off' year.

Has anyone given any thought that they might be looking to convert Grizzly into something RMC instead of Vortex? They never really say Vortex in the article...

"Witherow said Cedar Fair plans to do the same with other aging coasters in its portfolio, including one next year at its park near San Francisco."

Jonathan wrote:Wow that's a pretty huge quote. Definitely intriguing if their Vortex gets it since it's just as small as Carowinds. I also wouldn't discount the possibility of RMC and Grizzly. I know all the RMC rides seem accounted for for next year, but you never know...

Ultimately I agree with Roller though that he seemed to be alluding to other standups.

The article is about Rougarou, and I don't think RMC has any projects for Cedar Fair next year. The three coasters that seem to be rumored the most are Shot Rod, Roar, and Twisted Twins. Those and the S&S 4D at Great Adventure. I wonder if Wildfire's delay opened up one additional spot so they could fit the 4D into their schedule for 2016.
