If carowinds got something like this...the crowd would go nuts...

More pictures from the same park here...

I love mat racers, I've never been on a water coaster, if this is what Carowinds gets next year I will personally torch Thunder Road. [EDIT] Kidding.... thanks for ruining all the fun Roller.

I'm going to assume that these are the general plans for expansion:
The area circled in red will probably be the main entrance to the water park. I think someone brought up the fact that their would be no way to connect Thunder Road to the rest of the park going through this route. The entrance to the water park through the main park will probably be where Dodgems currently sits. I could see Whitewater Falls leaving if they want to try and get a Tornado Bowl or something on the SC side. The majority of the expansion will probably take place where TR's turnarounds are. You can fit 3 - 4 slide complexes in that spot. So the expansion will most likely be larger than what we've seen at other Cedar Fair parks, but probably nothing mind-blowing.

I doubt anything will be built where the turnarounds are for while. It is too far out to connect to anything right now plus the walkway around Bondi Beach is extremely narrow with no real way to widen it without removing Pipeline Peak. Someone wasn't thinking ahead.

Tarheel, I'm pretty sure that they could connect Thunder Road to the rest of the park...the entrance is already a bridge, they could rebuild it and put the exit over the bridge as well and have a walkway underneath heading to the water park.

I know it has been brought up time after time but the maintenance road under Thunder Road's lift could be used to connect the water park to County Fair/South Gate via AFX.

what are the chances carowinds purchased any of the slides from Wet&Wild Orlando since it will close in 2016.

Also, I know its highly unlikely but I would like to replace both pools with one larger one on the other side of thunder road. something similar to typhoon lagoons 6 foot wave would be nice. then fill in the the great barrier reef with a huge slide complex and bondi beach with a water coaster.

I think it'd be very unlikely for us to receive waterslides from Wet 'n Wild. However, I definitely wouldn't say it's impossible, especially since with Thunder Road gone, the expansion area could be huge (meaning it would take more than a year for the expansion to be completed). If I had a choice, I'd love to see Disco H2O and the new Mat Racer Complex be brought here (assuming Wet 'n Wild isn't keeping them after it becomes Volcano Bay).

Wet 'n Wild owns many water parks. Why wouldn't they do what Six Flags and Cedar Fair do when they shut down a park and just move and spread the rides out among their properties?

Wet 'n Wild doesn't own any other parks anymore. Wet 'n Wild Emerald Pointe was retained by Palace Enterainment which was brought by Parque Renaidos. Wet 'n Wild Las Vegas closed years ago and Wet 'n' Wild Las Vegas has no connection to EP or Orlando. The two Las Vegas parks have SIMILAR names to are not connected to each other. Palace Enterainment purchased the Wet 'n Wild brand and Univerisal took over management of Orlando at some point. Las Vegas closed for reasons I don't remember.

Can they not reroute walkways/maintenance roads? :?
