I think the obvious choice here for most would be Intamin or RMC, but which company do you think could fill the void being left by Thunder Road? My personal vote goes to TGG if they can build something like Ravine Flyer II.

Intamin still makes wooden coasters? Isn't the last one they sold Balder? Of the ones on the list, GCI is the only ones I have ridden. Thunderhead is good, better than Hurler and Mean Streak. The only thing I can compare it to is Georgia Cyclone or Hurricane Cat 5. Far better than both of them.

I hope to see Thunder Road replaced sooner than later, as I hate to see Carowinds lose a coaster. However, the next coaster may not necessarily be a wooden coaster. Could be a launch coaster or a wing coaster. But if it is a woodie, I like the idea of these hybrid versions, although I have yet to ride one. I think I would prefer the smoother ride.

You'll yell at me for saying this, but hear me out...

If anything, I'd like to see Hurler get the RMC treatment. Yes, I am WELL aware of how short the ride is, but no worries, that can be changed very easily.
But still, I'd like to see a traditional wooden coaster in the park.
Something thrilling with lots of airtime.

As long as it doesn't shake you to death. When you get older, you get back pains. And headaches.

I'm older but I still prefer traditional wooden coasters and love to see them preserved for future generations... I hurt my neck sleeping more than I do on most wooden coasters.

Hybrid coasters are awesome but aren't a replacement for wooden coasters. They are essentially a steel coaster with wooden supports.

With TR going away, I do hope that Carowinds gets a good wooden coaster again in the future sometime.

My instantaneous automatic response is for RMC. The wow factor is too hard to resist.

But with the multiple choice presented, I actually have to really think about Intamin. Whether or not some of their steel coasters have been problematic (on several fronts) lately, their woodies dating back over 30 years are pretty freaking awesome.

My first choice would be for RMC with the topper track and redo Hurler with the iron horse, who knows maybe they can lengthen it that'll be a first lol. My second choice would be for Intamin. They're woodies seem to being doing well over the years and out of all of their woodies El Toro is still in my top 5. I would still want a racing breed back at the park. Well no I'm leaning more towards dueling. I love the flyovers and seeming near miss head on collisions the give for thrill factors, each side having their own unique layout to make guest want to ride both sides.

My main issue with Intamin is cost. I think El Toro was $25 million? The Pre-fab seems like one of the more reliable models they've made though. And maybe being pre-fabricated cuts down on maintenance costs. It'd be cool if we got something like Balder. My main choice though would still be Gravity Group because I want something that rides like a real woodie.
