General Carowinds discussion

I was wondering about the SC side of what's coming so I was checking out the York county GIS maps. I found a toggle for future development and the area outlined in red was listed for future development. No details on the nature of development, but maybe a clue to what is coming.

Now here's what I think is coming.

I think they will put up stoplights and extend this road on the park side. The county is already talking about work to this intersection and the time frame seems to be about 3 years. At that time the area in blue will be a resort hotel. The green would be a new entrance that serves the resort and those wishing to enter directly into the water park. Which would be getting a water coaster about that time to compliment the new slides and long flume we will see this year.

An intersection there would be great for an exit only even if they don't do any hotels or whatnot.

A hotel there would still not be conducive to an ENTRANCE to the parking lot though.... just to the hotel. Why would they waste money on that big 10-lane entrance way if they were going to provide a "back entrance". I would be in favor of a water-park entrance from the main parking lot as long as the entrance fees to both parks remained all-inclusive. I hate hauling our towels and bags through the main park to get to the water park. (At least it's not as bad as SFoG. Since they removed their back gate, you have to walk what seems like miles to get to their water park.)

I know this is such a selfish thing to say... But just close down Wildwater Kingdom already and give us their slides. The last slides they received were in 2005 and the last addition they got was in 2006, and that was a wave pool. Obviously they are not investing in this park anymore so I think it is time to close it down.

Why? It still brings in revenue for Cedar Fair and other than their splash zone/rain fortress/whatever, there really isn't anything they have that we don't. Sure, their slide complex looks awesome but we already have plenty of those and their funnel slide is just a double sided Surfer's Swell. We need diversity, not something we already have. This is why I loved last year's slides so much, they were something different!

I started looking into ticket prices and what not for Wildwater Kingdom. The season passes for Wildwater Kingdom are about 80 dollars and the tickets are about 30 dollars. I guess that is a very large profit when it comes to the season pass costing that much for a water park. I remember maybe only 2 years ago when that was the price of a Carowinds season pass.

I can see how the Wright Bros. suggested the Windseeker with the flight theme, but can't quite figure how it relates to a "big splash." And then what could be inside that big box? And where exactly is that big box located? Somebody needs to take some more pics to get a better idea.
