A bit of background information: My name is Jarrett and I'm actually from Ohio but I've been to Carowinds 3 times (about to be 4 in a few weeks) and love the park. This RCT3 project I'm showcasing here is just an idea I've had for a while that I'm showing off and while it's being shown in the RCT3 community, I thought the Carowinds community should see it as well. So sit back and enjoy!
(That being said, I am new here, so if I messed anything up making this thread any mods are welcome to fix it as necessary. I apologize in advance if I should have put this somewhere else, ect.)
Well I was at the park today and I noticed something odd when I went for a spin on Vortex.

It had just opened back up and I saw them sent this test train around and got in line.

The park was dead today so I was the only one waiting for them to reopen.

Well I got in line...

And I noticed this segment that had been painted orange just out of the blue (or should I say, red
). What the heck? Why did they do this?

I went to go check out Vortex today only to find it shut tightly for some reason.

Carowinds wasn't very busy today, as usual, but that only added to the ghost town atmosphere of Carolina Showplace, the absence of Vortex's signature B&M roar casting a deafening silence over the plaza.

Stuck in the station, I assumed there was a mechanical issue with it, something fairly rare for that coaster.

Silent as the day it was topped off...

They weren't even testing it or making any effort to test it.

However, when I talked to this ride op by the chained off entrance, he said that it was actually down for scheduled maintenance. I also noted the removed ride signage. When I asked him why they were maintaining it and why the sign was down, he told me that "they're doing something to it," and that they were going to announce it soon. I'm getting excited!

I caught two guys, one being a park exec and I think the other was an engineer, with survey equipment by the queue line. I wasn't sure, but the engineer seemed to have an accent from what I overheard, possibly French or Italian.

After a while, I got sick of waiting for them to reopen it and just gave up on photographing that orange track bit and went to ride Fury.

What on earth is happening to Vortex?
