I can't remember the last time I rode the South Carolina side. NC is my go-to unless they only operate one side.

Okay, regardless of which side is in which state (since they both are in both states), I think most people refer to the side on the left (if you're going up the lift) as the "North Carolina side", and the side directly beside the water park as the "South Carolina side". At least damn near everyone I have ever been to Carowinds with has referred to them this way.

Then, a few seasons ago, Cedar Fair switched the position of the flags, so now even that makes no sense... So the side that used to fly the NC flag now flies the SC flag, and vice versa.

Either way, I chose the "left" side -again, going up the lift- running parallel to the parking lot; aka: the so-called North Carolina side. I find it much smoother and more enjoyable. A friend of mine literally had his shirt ripped off while riding on the side running next to the water park, the bar kept cranking tighter and tighter with every drop until it was so tight it just tore a huge hole in the middle of his shirt. It was so huge that he had to go buy another one from the Peanuts gift shop (because they were having a sale at the time).

Ok. Lesson in geography here. Yes, the station is in South Carolina and the turnaround is in North Carolina.

HOWEVER, if one MUST refer to one side as "North" and the other as "South", then it would be a reasonable assumption that the RIGHT side is the "North" since the ride travels outbound, up the lift hill, in a westward direction. (North would be to the right... aka the WATER PARK side)

This is also assuming that you are referring to "right" as you're looking UP the lift and NOT as you're sitting in the station.
