HOWEVER, if one MUST refer to one side as "North" and the other as "South", then it would be a reasonable assumption that the RIGHT side is the "North" since the ride travels outbound, up the lift hill, in a westward direction. (North would be to the right... aka the WATER PARK side)

This is also assuming that you are referring to "right" as you're looking UP the lift and NOT as you're sitting in the station.
Everyone confused yet?

North Carolina = Left, South Carolina = Right.

Yes, please use silver or blue. By the way, going up the hill NORTH CAROLINA = RIGHT in that way of thinking.

Okay, I understand your search for logic, but there isn't any to be found here. lol
I honestly don't know why the left is commonly considered NC and the right SC, it's very counter-intuitive. That's just what I've always observed. That being said, it doesn't really matter since neither technically represent either state.

Ahh tbh sometimes I can't remember which is blue and which is silver haha. I do know but sometimes I confuse myself. I ride the blue! It's the side that I did 101 consecutive rides on!! I also have just historically been attracted to that side for about 90% of my rides, I don't know why.

I thought it was common to refer to them by state, talking about which flag was flown at the top of the lift. But of course I could never remember which is which and OMG THEY SWITCHED THEM that makes so much sense! I'm pretty sure I remember in my 2009 marathon that the left side was South Carolina (I felt guilty for doing that side since I live in NC) but since then I've realized that my favorite side was actually NC! I always just assumed I was crazy.
