Wasn't the whole point of getting rid of the Plantation House to improve capacity and get rid of the "ugly" pergolas at the metal detectors? I fail to see how these pop up tents improve capacity and look better.

As for the possible rename of Intimidator and Intimidator 305, rename it to Intimidate and Intimidate 305 and keep a generic racing theme. Problem solved.

I know I305 fits the theme of racing better, but I think our Intimidator needs to keep the racing theme and I305 needs a new theme. It just looks out of place in Safari Village.

I've been to the park a few times when they were scanning people very casually if at all. I'm assuming they didn't build the new high capacity entrance only to start scanning more aggressively just for the fun of it. Just like the discussion on TR about business needs dictating it for one reason or another, I'm sure they have a legitimate reason for the ramp-up on scanning.

EDIT: On to another thought - I have been a fan of keeping the amphitheater, mostly because Carowinds really needs more shows to draw on a larger demographic. However, since they hardly use it, then tear it down! Seriously, though, after being at Kings Island last week, an idea popped into my head. Here is what KI has:

Carowinds should consider removing most of the exterior seating and just keep what is under the roof. Then they could have another set of shows there and free up some space around Fury for some more rides.

Just a thought.

Anyone at the park or around the park? I want to go today, but the weather isn't looking promising. It appears to be drizzling rain on the web cam, but hard to tell.

Random thoughts from July 11
Landscaping is excellent. Its everywhere and well maintained.

Live entertainment quality is excellent. I understand it is D & G Productions or something like that. I was told they are doing all Cedar Fair live entertainment. If so, that explains the high quality at most of their parks.

Ignite the Night deserves a better venue than the makeshift stages with limited bench seating.

Food quality is good. Especially considering Kings Island & Cedar Point have some of the worst amusement park food out there.

Only one side of Thunder Road running - HUGE disappointment as racing is half the thrill. The least they could do is run both sides in its last days.

Nobody in the park. Only narrow front park of the parking lot being used. Fury had a 5 minute wait in the afternoon. Not sure how they justify investing in huge rides when the attendance is so low.

Overall the park is clean and well maintained. Doesn't really create many special experiences since the theming is so random these days.

Am I the only one that just noticed the strong lights in the boardwalk section? or maybe they're just fresh new bulbs, I don't know; however it makes the area look...well...like a boardwalk I like it. Excuse the blurriness I was in route.

I went to Carowinds again tonight. After almost 10 rides, I finally got to ride Fury in the front seat. Absolutely unbelievable. I thought the back was fantastic when I rode it, but the front was even better - the drop was amazing, the entire course felt extremely fast, and the airtime was much stronger than it had ever felt previously. Although my overall credit count is low, I can definitely say that Fury 325 is solidly my #1 coaster at the moment.

Unfortunately, Thunder Road was closed when I was there. :/ I'm planning to return to the park twice before it closes, though, so hopefully I don't get spited again.
