General Carowinds discussion

Just pointing out that there is rides named "Drop Zone", This website uses the name "Intimidator" and makes no mention of DEI: http://intimidatorutv.com. There was a movie released named "Fury" during the the last offseason, I think a launched coaster was designed but never built that used the name and theme "Top Gun" but again made no mention of Paramount Pictures.

...since I love numbers so much, Intimidator being renamed =    in my book.

I am strongly against any park paying millions of dollars to any third party, just for a theme or naming rights. I'd be just as happy to enjoy [insert name here] as a good hyper coaster that started to put Carowinds on the map while the millions of dollars saved brought us another ride or park improvement instead.

I would love to see it remain racing themed, though, since that is a big heritage to the Carolinas. Ironically while on call last night I was watching a documentary on moonshine with a segment from Junior Johnson. I'm always interested in hearing about/from him since I did some work in his house on his ranch near Wilkesboro.

That team is also part of his legacy, something that he had a personal interest in. I'm willing to bet that the team name never changes.

Hey all, I recently heard that along with the TR nanocoasters, Carowinds alaso got a shipment of Fury 325 nanocoasters!

PLEASE if any regular park goers are reading this, could we PM about arranging one of you sending it to me!? I'd be more than willing to pay for the nanocoasters + shipping + a $5 premium for your troubles. I really want a momento for my favorite coaster and when I visited in April they didn't have any :( I live in Virginia Beach and can't go to the park again until at least next summer. Please anybody, I'm desperate! PM me if you think you could maybe do a Fury 325 lover a big favor!!!

Does anyone know what those black trusses (or whatever you want to call them) are that are in the area between TR and the highest body water slide tower? They look to be the right height for a track to go on or maybe flipped over and a track to go "IN" (for shipping?) but they seem to just be placed there. You can see them in Google maps so they've been there a while. There seem to be enough of them for 2 normal sized trains. ... or maybe they're something else entirely. The steps to the highest slide goes up right beside them. Ideas?

I am pretty sure those are holding racks for the chairs from the wave pool in the off season.

^^those are used to hold the afterburn trains during the off season. If you count, I'm pretty sure there is 16 and I have seen them used on other inverts.

^ why would they store them way over there when there are multiple storage units closer to afterburn not to mention all the room on the other side of thunder road.
